AAA TEAM EVALUATION DATES POSTED
2008 Summer teams Forming

FRAMINGHAM, MA-Coming off the programs most successful AAA tournament season the Bruins are starting to plan their 2008 season. In addition to putting together a schedule for each group and which tournaments the B's will go to they also had firmed up their open Evaluation dates/times.

To take a look at AAA team alumni currently playing college hockey vist our ALUMNI REPORT

The Evaluation Sessions will again be at NESC in Marlboro, MA and will take place on December 31st and January 1st. If you scroll to the bottom of the this article you see answers to Frequently Asked Questions about our Evaluation Sessions.

The dates for the Evaluations have been posted on our WEB SITE CALENDAR as well as at our AAA TOURNAMENT TEAM EVALUATION LINK. The info is also at the very bottom of this article.

The on ice sessions are an Evaluation process and not a traditional tryout. These are open to all who are interested in being considered for one of our teams. Every year we take players from our Evaluations Sessions to play on our teams and this year will be no different as it becomes increasingly more difficult to get out and see as many games as we would like to in the fall and winter months.

In 2008 we will have teams from the 2000 age level to midget and junior age players and go to tournaments such as Prospects, OTTF, Warrior Montreal Meltdown, Las Vegas, Icebreaker, Eastern Spring Showcase, Hub Cup tourneys, Eastern Junior Summer Showcase, Jr. Chowder Cup and others. We are still finalizing our schedule and which tournaments we are going to with each age group.

Additional information on each team can be found at our AAA Tournament Team links above as well as at these two links:

AAA TEAM PHILOSOPHY

AAA TEAM FAQ

To register, please go to AAA TOURNAMENT TEAM EVALUATION SESSION LINK and print off an application and fax/mail it in with payment.

Pre-registration is STRONGLY encouraged as there is a limited amount of players we will take at each age group to participate in the evaluations.

With the Evaluation sessions just around the corner we wanted to update you with some answers to some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's). We have received dozens of calls and most have the same questions so we hope you find this information useful.

Is it too late to sign up and register?
No, you can fax applications as late as Thursday, December 30 by 12:00 PM . If you do not fax an application by that time you can bring the paperwork/payment with you and register in person. Pre-registration is strongly recommend.

Is it okay if my son can only make one night of Evaluation Sessions?
Yes, there are many players who can only make one night. Making only one session will not be held against players. We prefer to see players there at both sessions but understand there will be conflicts.

How many players will you take from these sessions?
That depends on the talent level that is there. Whether it is our summer team or our midget and junior team tryouts our motto is the same-"If a player is good enough we will find a spot for him in our program".

We have added a trip to Las Vegas for a tournament in July and we will expand the normal scope of players that we take to that tournament so if you feel your son may not make our team, have him come out, because this year, we will take more players than in years past.

Are there still openings or have the teams been picked?
Contrary to what some will have you think, there are openings at EVERY position and at EVERY age group. There are players who have been invited to play on the team already but there are still openings for every age group.

Every year at EVERY age level there are players we take from these Evaluation Sessions. There are players we have never heard of or seen before that come out, impress us and play on our team(s). As said prior-"If a player is good enough we will find a spot for him in our program".

Are there still openings at the Evaluation sessions?
Yes, there are openings at every position and at every age group. The only position where we will turn players away at the Eval sessions is goalie. This does not mean there are no openings for the team, just no more openings for the Eval sessions. We can only accommodate a certain number of goalies to have on the ice at a time so please get your application/payment to us ASAP to secure a spot.

What is the Evaluation Session format?
The majority will be scrimmaging. After a short warm-up we will jump into scrimmage situations (cross ice, full ice, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, etc.)

How many players are going to be there?
That varies by age but we expect at about 10-15 per age group.

***FYI-For those who are going to the Bell Cup: According to the Bell Cup web site there may only be 2-4 teams left playing during our Evaluation Sessions at each age group. Most teams will be out of the tournament by these dates. These are the only Evaluation Sessions we will have. None others are scheduled or will be scheduled. We strongly urge those who are interested in our team to be at the Eval Sessions.***

HENRION TO UNH!!!
B's Forward Heading to Durham

John HenrionFRAMINGHAM, MA-Junior Bruins forward John Henrion made his college decision and he will be bringing his talents to the University of New Hampshire Wildcats. Henrion, one of the top '91 forwards in the country, is a powerful skater with a NHL caliber shot and release who has a nose for finding the back of the net. Other schools in the mix were UVM, Maine, BU and BC.

Henrion's history with the Bruins dates back to his days of playing with the '90 and '91 AAA tournament teams as well as coming to camps and skill sessions. He was around the age of 10 when he first suited up in a Bruins' uniform and was at those camps and it took all of about ten seconds to realize that he was a gifted player and stood out from the rest of the kids his age.

After playing several years with the Bruins' summer AAA tournament teams at Repentigny, Mission Cup, OTTF, Prospects, RI Saints and several other tournaments at NESC it was time for him to join the Bruins full season. After spending much of his youth hockey days with the '90 Worcester Crusaders he joined the Junior Bruins Midget AAA team as a bantam minor and an 8th grader for the 2004-2005 season. "I can still remember Hank as an 11 and 12 year old playing up in Toronto and Montreal against the top kids and teams in North America and being a difference maker," coach Chris Masters recollected.

John HenrionIn that inaugural season with the Bruins he put up 16-13-29 point season playing in 56 of the teams 64 games. Which says a lot since he was playing against teams that were primarily made up of '87 and '88 birth year players. The team complied a 42-20-2 and were regular season champs in the now defunct EMJHL with a league record of 21-2-3. Other players on that talented team include current and former Junior Bruins such as Stevie Moses (UNH), Mike Cichy (US-NTDP and North Dakota), Stevie Bergin (U Conn), Joey Lavin (US-NTDP and Providence), Edwin Shea (Boston College), Evan MackIntosh (Wayne State), Phil Ginand (Mercyhurst) and Justin Gates (Providence). Henrion is now the ninth player from that team to make a D-1 commitment (with 2-3 more players expected to make commitments that number should continue to grow).

In year two with the same team, now in the Empire Jr. Hockey League, he made great strides and it showed in his point production. In 79 games he racked up 67 points on 35 goals and 32 assists. That was good for a team high 6th. That team had one of the most potent offenses a Bruins team has ever had. En route to a 59-20-4 record the team averaged scoring 5.68 goals per game and had four players with 100 point seasons (Moses, David Boehm, Cichy and Justin Alonzo). Henrion was a big part of the teams success and it was the 2005-2006 Empire Jr. Hockey League Regular Season Champions. The team, and Henrion, had post season success winning its first two playoff rounds defeating the Valley Jr. Warriors and Salem Ice Dogs to move on to the Empire Final Four where they advanced to the title game. The team also earned a berth at Nationals to compete for the Silver Cup in Philadelphia, PA.

John HenrionIn his third full time season with the Bruins, and now finally approaching playing at this level at a normal age, he came into his own a season ago. As one of its leaders, and leading goal scorers, the team repeated as Empire Jr. Hockey League Regular Season champs with a 40-3-1 record and set a record as the only team in Empire League history to put together back to back 40 win seasons during the regular season. He put up 68 points in Empire regular season games and his 43 regular season game goal total was good for second in the league (only behind '87 forward Scott Estey). He had his first 50 goal season with the Bruins finishing with 53. His totals for the season, a season in which the Bruins complied a 52-9-1 record, were a career high with the Bruins of 51-33-84 despite still being one of the younger players on the team. He also had a knack for scoring big goals as he set a Bruins record with game winning goals in a season with 12. The team had a tremendous playoff run going undefeated and winning the Empire Jr. Hockey League Playoff title beating the NH Jr. Monarchs in the champions game. In his 6 playoff games he racked up 11 points with three of those coming in that 4-2 title game win. He was an MVP runner up in the Empire League and was named to the 1st Team All Conference.

John HenrionIn his three seasons with the Bruins (Empire) team he had a 104 goal-78 assist-182 point line and a combined team record of 153-49-7.

This season, as one of only a handful of '91's playing in the EJHL, he is among the league leaders in goals with 18 (one shy of the league leader) and is currently leading the team in points with 32.

"John is another player, in an ever increasing long line of players, that have come through our program at a young age with our Empire team, developed over the course of a few years and then graduated onto our EJHL team and will soon enough be suiting up at a D-1 program. He was a big time talent when he started with us and it has been great to see him stay at the top of his age group throughout his last four years with us," coach Peter Masters commented. "His commitment to the game and his team was evident in practice and in games and it was nice to see his improvement from season to season (he progressed from 29 points to 67 points to an 84 point season)."

"Full scholarships are tough to come by these days so that also says a lot about Hank's game," Masters continued. "It will be fun to head to UNH games over the next 5-6 years with Bobby butler there now, Stevie Moses soon to arrive and with Hank following him there will be three former Bruins suiting up for the Wildcats."

Congratulations to John and his family.

B's Tender Continues to Shine

Clay WittFRAMINGHAM, MA-Junior Bruins goalie Clay Witt has been named the November Goalie of the Month for the Empire Jr. Hockey League.

ONE SIDED WAR
Junior Bruins Destroy Little B's: Powers to Blame

Andy PowersMARLBORO, MA -On Saturday night the Junior Bruins (Empire) beat the Little Bruins 13-2 in the most lopsided game in Civil War history. With both teams missing some key players and the Little Bruins with a short bench the teams played the lone game of the year against each other.

Frankie Vatrano and Logan Romano each had a three goal night and Max Barron (2), Mike Kerdock (2), Cody Learned (2) and Matt Manzella rounded out the scoring.

"I think this was just another case of Andy (Powers) being out coached", Chris Masters said. "The last three of four times we have played each other he has been on the losing end. I can't blame the players anymore...it begins and ends with Andy behind the bench. It reminds me of the days when he was playing for Arlington and I was playing for Lexington-Bedford when we were mites, squirts and pee-wee's and we used to pummel them four times a year. While I was scoring three to four a game Andy was wiping the fog of his glasses and crying his way home after I beat him again. It was embarrassing."

LITTLE B's TOP EAGLES, 6-3
Sweep Season Series with BC

NEEDHAM, MA -The Little Bruins beat the BC Jr. Eagles for the third time this season on Sunday night by a 6-3 score. '94 forward Frankie Vatrano led the way with a two goal performance.

The Little B's now hold an 11-1 record over the Eagles dating back to the 2002-2003 season.

The Little B's end their season in Civil War: 2007 on Saturday night at the New England Sports Center as they take on the Junior Bruins (Empire) team in their annual clash. The Little B's hold a 7-4-2 record over the Junior B's (Empire). The Little B's, however, have lost the last three meetings between the two teams.

BRUINS TOPPLE MONARCHS
Cruise to 7-2 Win on the Road

HOOKSETT, NH-The Junior Bruins and NH Jr. Monarchs met for the first time since the championship game of the Empire League last season, and, for the 10th straight time, the B's beat their rival to the north. This time it was a 7-2 win on the road in New Hampshire. The Bruins got a fie point performance from Billy Arnold and three point games from Justin Mansfield and Cory Kane. Goalie Clay Witt made 27 saves in the win that now puts the B's record at 10-1-0-2 and atop the National Conference.

The Bruins got on the board first when Arnold scored a power play goal thirteen minutes into the game. The Bruins power play, tops in the Empire League, scored three times in the game. Defensemen Tommy Monteiro and forward Logan Romano assisted on the play. "We had great jump to our game tonight and it showed in the first," coach Andy Powers commented. "The guys were playing with a lot of jam and were getting to pucks first and doing a great job on the forecheck. It really set the tone for the game."

Mike KerdockThe Bruins came out and quickly made it 2-0 in the second period when Kane finished off an Arnold pass just 16 seconds into the game. Kane started the play when he pressured the Monarchs defensemen off the opening face-off. That defensemen got out of that trouble but found more when Arnold was on top of him after he escaped Kane's pressure. Arnold stripped him of the puck, fended off the other 'Narchs defensemen and fed the puck to a wide open Kane who made it 2-0.

Mike Kerdock made it 3-0 when he ripped home a rebound on the power play. The play started with great puck movement from Kane, Colin Shea and Max Barron. Barron got the puck to the net and Kerdock, who was taking a beating in from of the net, got free, found the rebound and extended the lead to three.

After the Monarchs made it a 3-1 game, Mansfield finished off another nice set up by Arnold to make it 4-1 with two minutes to go in the second period. On the ensuing shift the puck ended up behind the Monarchs net and Daniel Szerlip and Barron were battling for the puck when they were jumped by two Monarchs players. All four players were tossed with fighting majors and the Monarchs picked up some extra penalties for instigating the melee.

Steve GinandThe third period was more of the same for the Bruins as they scored three times to put the game out of reach. Danny Federico found the back of the net when he took a shot from the left point off a face-off won by Kane to the wall where Arnold bumped it back to Federico. Mansfield scored his second of the game when found the handle to a shot that was initially blocked in the slot and he ripped one past goalie Connor Shannon. Steve Ginand and Kane assisted on the play. The final goal for the B's was Arnold's fifth point of the game. Monteiro ripped a low hard shot from the point and went off both Justin Mansfield's foot and then off Arnold's foot and into the net. It was the third power play goal of the game for the black and gold.

"This was a nice win for us," coach Chris Masters said following the game. "Any time you can go on the road and beat a team that has one of the best records in the league, and score seven goals, it is a nice feeling. We are also proud of the way our guys responded after two of their teammates got jumped late in the second. They stayed disciplined, came out in the third and put the game out of reach."

The Bruins have another big test on Wednesday night as the upstart South Shore Kings come to NESC. Game time is 8:00 PM.

CHAMPS!!!

Justin MansfieldDURHAM, NH-Sunday afternoon the Bruins beat a tough Victory Honda team, 2-1, in the championship game of the Beantown Fall Classic.

The Bruins got on the board first when '94 forward Frankie Vatrano scored to make it 1-0. With less than two minutes to go, and the game tied 1-1, Nick Foy won an offensive zone face off to Justin Mansfield who ripped a shot that hit the goalie's blocker but had enough "steam" on it to overpower the blocker and continue into the net.

The Bruins went 4-0-1 on the weekend getting through what may be the toughest U-18 tournament field this season.

MOVING ON!!!
Bruins and Chicago Mission Tie; Bruins Win Division and Move Onto the Semi-finals

DURHAM, NH-Late Saturday morning the Bruins had the Chicago Mission in the way between them and the a spot in the playoff rounds at the Beantown Fall Classic. A win or a tie and the Bruins would win the division.

They did just that tieing the Mission, 3-3.

WITT SHUT OUTS ALLIANCE
Bruins Stay in Driver Seat at Beantown

Clay WittDURHAM, NH-Friday afternoon the Bruins and the Alliance met at the Exeter Ice House and the Bruins used a suffocating forecheck, timely scoring and a shut out by goalie Clay Witt to improve to 2-0 at the Beantown Fall Classic.

Cody Learned got the scoring started when he picked the pocket of an Alliance defensemen in the offensive zone and went in on a breakaway and made it 1-0. Later in the first half Tommy Monteiro ripped a shot from the left point on the power play and made it 2-0. Logan Romano and Nick Foy assisted on the play. Max Barron finished the scoring in the first half when he found the handle to a Colin Shea pass/shot from left point at the end of a power play and roofed it to give the Bruins a commanding 3-0 lead.

Foy scored in the second half to close out the scoring when he banged home the rebound of a Steve Ginand shot from the left point. Barron assisted on the play as well.

Clay Witt 16 saves en route to the shut out win. Saturday afternoon the Bruins play the Chicago Mission. A win and they move on to the semi finals on Sunday morning.

B's TOP FLYERS, 3-1 AT BEANTOWN
Late Goal by McLaughlin Puts Game Away

Sean McLaughlinDURHAM, NH-The Beantown Fall Classic got underway at the Exeter Ice House and the Whittemore Center at UNH on Thursday and the scouts came out in droves to watch what could be the top Midget tournament in the country this year. In addition to the top U-18 and U-16 midget teams there are also a handful of junior teams, including the Junior Bruins (EJHL), as well as the NTDP U-17 team. Early Thursday morning the Exeter Ice House was "wall to wall" scouts.

The Bruins first game was on the campus of UNH as the Bruins (Empire) team took on the Philly Jr. Flyers. The Bruins came out flat, looked bad and were down 1-0 in the early minutes of the game. The goal seemed to wake the Bruins out of their slumber and they quickly stormed back, scored twice to take the lead and carried the play for the remainder of the first half.

Mike Kerdock tied the game when he collected a pass from Sean McLaughlin off an offensive zone face off. Left alone, and with the puck, directly in front of the Flyers goalies, he showed great patience waiting for the goalie to commit and then going to his backhand to put the puck in the empty net. Less than a minute later Tommy Monteiro let one fly from the right point off a Daniel Szerlip pass and it found its way into the back of the net. The Bruins out shot the Flyers 23-6 in the first half.

The second half was not a good one for the B's but they did manage to keep the Flyers off the board. With less than a minute to go McLaughlin, after going to the net hard, banged home a Zach Sandonato rebound to add an insurance goal.

The Bruins will need to play better if they want to advance to the playoff round this weekend. Friday the Bruins take on the Alliance Bulldogs and Saturday it is the Chicago Mission.

ONE GOAL SHY
Beantown Recap

EXETER, NH-The Little Bruins' shot at the playoffs came to an end on Saturday afternoon as they lost to the eventual tournament runner up, Victory Honda, 4-3. Had the Bruins tied or won, they would have moved on. In their consolation game Sunday morning the B's tied the Chicago Mission, 0-0

PELTZ SPARKS BRUINS OFFENSE
B's and Hornets Tie, 4-4

Wayne SimpsonDURHAM, NH-Friday night the Little Bruins came back from one goal deficit, twice, but gave up a power play goal late in the game and the Pittsburgh Hornets salvaged a tie out of the game. The Bruins got a three point effort from forward Brad Peltz, playing with the Little B's for the weekend, on a one goal, two assist game.

The Bruins got on the board first when Peltz made a nice play behind the net and found an open Wayne Simpson to the side of the net. Simpson quickly fired the puck home. The Bruins gave up two quick ones and were behind 2-1 till Joey Yeadon ripped a shot from forty feet out that beat the Hornets goalie. Gunnar Hughes assisted on the play.

Pittsburgh got the lead again but this time it was Peltz doing the scoring. He cut across the slot on his off side and whistled one, using the Hornets defensemen as a screen. Simpson and Billy Arnold assisted on the play.

Simpson scored again when he finished off a Peltz and Arnold set up on the power play.

The Bruins have a must win game against Victory Honda on Saturday to move onto the semi finals.

BRUINS BLANK CALGARY EDGE
Good Start to Beantown Fall Classic

Joey YTeadonDURHAM, NH-The Little Bruins shut out the Calgary Edge by a 4-0 score Thursday night at the Exeter Ice House to get off to a 1-0 start at the BTFC. Scoring for the Bruins were Wayne Simpson, Chris Gorovitz, Alex Essaris and Joey Yeadon.

The Bruins' special teams were sharp as they scored two power play markers (Gorovitz and Essaris) and one short handed goal (Simpson).

Friday night the Bruins take on the Pittsburgh Hornets at the Whittemore Center on the campus of UNH and Saturday afternoon it is back to the Ice House for their final round robin game with Victory Honda.

On Sunday the playoff round commences and the winner of each division makes the crossover while the others in division play consolation games, so the Bruins need to keep up their winning ways and come out of the Bruins, Victory Honda, Pittsburgh Hornets and Calgary Edge division as the top seed.

Sunday afternoon the B's capped off a perfect weekend with a 6-1 win over the BC Jr. Eagles. Foy had a two goal effort while Sandonato continued his scoring ways with another marker and Tommy Monteiro, Mansfield and Kerdock rounded out the scoring. Goalie Petie Von Rosenvinge was sharp in net making 17 saves.

The Bruins now turn their attention to the Beantown Fall Classic taking place October 18-21 at UNH's Whittemore Center as well as the Exeter Ice House.

Gunnar HughesLittle Bruins Recap

Friday night the Bruins took on the Eagles and, led by a balanced attack that saw five different forwards pick up goals, won 5-2. Chris Gorovitz, Billy Arnold, Gunnar Hughes, Brendan Fadden and Joey Yeadon did the scoring while Chris Venti and Greg Homer split time in net.

After taking Saturday off the B's had a double dip on Sunday. They started off with a 5-1 win against the Breakers. The game was tight for the first forty minutes, but, with the B's holding a 2-1 lead, they exploded for three goals in the final few minutes. Arnold made it 3-1 when he ripped one top shelf from the slot. Moments later it was Wayne Simpson, from Arnold and DJ Tanner, that made it 4-1 and Gorovitz finished the scoring. Arnold and Woody Woodworth scored the Bruins' first two goals.

The Little B's had only Top Gun in between them and an undefeated weekend for the B's at the Top Gun Showcase. This time it was Jessyko Bernard who led the way and paced the Bruins with a two goal game. Gorovitz, Simpson, Alex Essaris and Hughes rounded out the scoring and Chris Venti played well in goal as the Bruins handled Top Gun by a 6-2 margin.

The Little Bruins, like their full season brethren have a big weekend as they to play in the Beantown Fall Classic.

CROWNED!!!
Zarbo Tricks Caesars; Little B's Take Buffalo Regals Title

Woody WoodwrothBUFFALO, NY-The Bruins entered the finals coming off the heels of two well earned victories over Belle Tire and the host Regals. In both games the B's outworked their opponents, made more plays and just plain "wanted it more". They did the same in the title game avenging their only loss of the weekend beating Detroit Little Caesar's by a 4-1 score. The B's were led by Matt Zarbo who bagged a hat trick in the win and by a solid effort in net by goalie Connor Knapp.

It was a bit of a homecoming for both Zarbo (as well as little brother Joe) and Knapp as they both are from the Buffalo area. The Zarbo's grew up playing in the Twin Holiday Rink that the tournament was held at and looked right at home in the title game.

The Bruins got down 1-0 when Jesse Johnson scored off a defensive zone face off miscue by the B's. Five minutes later, while short handed, Joey Zarbo forced a turnover in the Bruins end and then jumped up ice and joined brother MAtt on a 2-1. Matt got his firs of the game and tied the game at 1-1 when he finished off the play. The B's would take the lead with only 48 seconds to go in the first when Billy Arnold, who was great all weekend, forced another turnover and then went in on a breakaway and finished off the play.

Chris GorovitzZarbo scored his second of the game when he finished off a brother Joey pass on the power play and made it 3-1. Caesar's had plenty of chances of their own, including a 5-3 power play for nearly the full two minutes, but Knapp was a wall back in the pipes. The Bruins defense got better as the weekend went on and all six rearguards had a good tournament, especially in the final three games. Charlie Carkin, Al Butler, Jon Weintraub, Evan Gogonis, Colin Shea and Danny Federico were a strong group.

The final nail in Caesars' coffin was when Joey Zarbo forced yet another turnover deep in Caesar's end, moved it to Gunnar Hughes and he quickly one touched it to Matt Zarbo in front who tucked home his third of the game.

The Bruins still had some work to do as the black and gold got whistled for a few penalties in the third and the penalty killers did a great job holding off Caesars. Joey Yeadon, Hughes, Logan Romano and the two Zarbo's did the lions share of killing up front and all five defensemen (Weintraub was lost for most of the weekend with a writs injury) were great in not allowing many quality scoring chances.

"The players did a great job this weekend," coach Chris Masters commented. "It is so hard to win a tournament, especially one that has a field of teams that was as deep as this one. We got great performances in net and some big offensive games from players in crucial spots but the biggest factor in the success we had was how hard the players worked. They outworked every team we played and it is nice to see that hard work pay off."

2007 Buffalo Regals Champs

BRUINS MOVE ON TO FINALS
Top Regals in Semi Finals Behind Simpson Hat Trick

Wayne SimpsonJoey YeadonBUFFALO, NY-The Little Bruins got a three goal performance from center Wayne Simpson in the semi finals of the Buffalo Regals tournament on Monday morning to advance to the finals of the tournament. This marks the second time in three years the B's find themselves in the finals.

Simpson scored his first on a wicked snap shot from 30 feet out. Joey Yeadon and Al Butler assisted on the play that started in the B's own end. Simpson's second made it 2-0 when he banged home his own rebound after Jessyko Bernard sent him in on a breakaway. The second period scoring ended when Chris Gorovitz found Jeff Ryan open in front of the net and Ryan quickly put it upstairs beating the fallen Regals goalie.

The Regals made it 3-1 when they scored a power play goal early in the third period but the Bruins scored off the ensuing face off when Woody Woodworth forced a turnover behind the Regals net and quickly found Simpson in front who buried the pass to complete the hat trick.

Woodworth finished off the scoring making it a 5-2 game when he finished off a Simpson pass on a 2-1. Bernard started the play on the right wing wall when he kept the puck in and out muscled two Regals players to move it to Simpson.

Goalie Greg Homer made 20 saves picking up the win.

MOVING ON!!!
B's Advance to Semi Finals with 4-2 Win over Belle Tire

Billy ArnoldBUFFALO, NY-The B's had a must win game (or a tie that stayed at 1-1, 2-2 or 3-3) if they were to move onto the semi finals at the Regals tournament. That was a tall task with the 5th ranked team in the country, Belle Tire, as their opponent.

With a solid game from Connor Knapp, timely scoring and outworking Belle Tire for 51 minutes gave the Bruins the win and they moved onto the semi's.

Billy Arnold ripped a snap shot in the first to give the Bruins the lead and then Joey Zarbo banged home the rebound of a Al Butler shot from the right point. Matt Zarbo started the play moving it from the right wing corner to an uncovered Butler at the point.

The Bruins got a second period goal from Jeff Ryan who whistled one top shelf, short side after Billy Arnold forced a turnover with his relentless fore check on the right wing wall by the hash marks. In the third the black and gold got an insurance goal when Evan Gogonis jammed home the puck after a scrum in front of the net.

CAESAR'S DOES IN BRUINS
Bruins Fall to Detroit, 5-2

Charlie CarkinBUFFALO, NY-Saturday afternoon the Bruins made some costly mistakes, put a very good team on the power play too often and didn't finish its chances when they hade them against Detroit Little Caesar's. Add all that up and the Bruins were on the short end of a 5-2 score.

Jessyko Bernard and Logan Romano scored for the Bruins. Picking up assists were Wayne Simpson, Joey Yeadon, Billy Arnold and Charlie Carkin.

The Bruins now face a must win Sunday to move onto the semi finals on Monday.

KNAPP, HOMER SHUTOUT NXI
Good Start for Bruins in Buffalo

Greg HomerBUFFALO, NY-Friday night the Bruins shook off the rust of a full day of travel from the Boston area to Buffalo and came out of the rink with a 2-0 shutout of Team NXI. NXI scored the BRuins first goal when a defensemen backhanded the puck into his own net while trying (we think) to reverse the puck behind the net. Wayne Simpson, who was closest to the play, got credit for the goal.

Joey Zarbo scored a power play goal to give the Bruins the cushion they needed. Jessyko Bernard and Simpson assisted on the play. Goalie Connor Knapp and Greg Homer combined to shut out the Chicago based NXI.

The Bruins have two tough tilts ahead of them as they play Detroit Little Caesar's on Saturday afternoon and another Detroit based team in Belle Tire. Caesar's and Belle Tire are top ten ranked midget teams in the country heading into the Buffalo Regals tournament weekend.

The playoffs will take place Monday morning.

WOODCHUCK; DAY 3
Almost Perfect

BURLINGTON, VT-Sunday morning started bright and early for the Junior Bruins at the Woodchuck Classic as the Junior Bruins (Empire) team loaded the bus at 6:00 AM to head to the rink for a game with the Brewster Bulldogs. The Bruins got a strong performance from Max Barron and an overtime goal from Evan Gogonis en route to the win. The Little Bruins suffered the only loss of the weekend for the Bruins as the teams combined for an 8-1 record as they fell to the NH Jr. Monarchs, 6-2. The Junior Bruins (EJHL) topped Dixie 4-1.

WOODCHUCK; DAY 2
More Wins for B's

BURLINGTON, VT-Day Two at the Woodchuck was another good one for the Bruins as the Junior Bruins (Empire) began their defense of their Empire League title with a 6-0 blanking of the host Glades, the Little B's won a tough game with the Philly Jr. Flyers, 3-2, and the Junior Bruins (EJHL) beat Joilette (who tried to "Kook" it up all game a la the Charlestown Chiefs), 3-2.

WOODCHUCK; DAY 1
Good Start for B's

BURLINGTON, VT-The Bruins organization hit the road on Friday and traveled to Burlington, Vermont for the Woodchuck Classic. All three Bruins' teams will be in action on Day 1 and all three came away with wins.

The Junior Bruins (Empire) beat the Atlanta Knights, 3-2. The B's out shot the Knights 41-15 and looked good in their opening game of the season. The B's got goals from Logan Romano (on the power play), Max Barron (Tommy Monteiro assist) and Sean McLaughlin (power play goal assisted by Danny Federico and Monteiro). Clay Witt and Petie Von Rosenvinge split duties for the win. The defense of their Empire regular season title begins Saturday with a tilt with the Vermont Glades.

The Little Bruins got the offense rolling and were powered by the five goal performance from Bryan Kriner as they beat up on the Seacoast Kings, 9-2. Also scoring for the B's were Jeff Ryan (2), Gunnar Hughes and Wayne Simpson. Greg Homer went the distance picking up the win. They face a stiffer test on Saturday with a game with the Philly Jr. Flyers.

The Junior Bruins (EJHL) also looked good in a 5-2 win over Georgetown (OPJHL).

VON ROSENVINGE FOURSOME THREE-PEATS
Connerton, Tierney and Pasquale Round Out Winning Team Posting a 5

HOPKINTON, MA-The Junior Bruins 4th Annual Golf Outing was won for the third straight year by the foursome of Bruce Von Rosenvinge, Joe Connertan, Tim Tierney and Joe Pasquale as they made 15 birdies en route to the 15 under score of 56.

Mother Nature gave the B's a picture perfect day and the real winner was the scholarship fund that the proceeds from the event goes to. The Bruins came close to reaching their goal of raising $25,000.

The winning team, put together by Von Rosenvinge, was loaded as Connertan (Pro at The Country Club), Tierney (Pro at Weston CC) and Pasquale (owner of HCC and low, single digit handicap) are all "players". Not only was the team the best golfers but generous ones as well as they donated all their winnings (pro shop credit) back to the program and those gift certificates were raffled off.

The second place team featured former tour pro, and former #1 heavyweight contender, Jim King. King was joined by Ed Shea, Jake Learned and Mark Adams and they came in with a 14 under 57. Third place, with a 13 under 58, were Bruins' coaches Chris and Peter Masters and Merrimack coach Mark Dennehy.

Winning the Long Drive Contest was Referee Czar Gene Binda as he pounded one about 300 yards. Steve Gogonis won the Closest to the Pin contest at the 16th hole as he threw a dart that finished only nine inches from the cup.

The Grand Prize raffle ticket winner was Max Eveleth who took home a $500 payout.

"The Golf Outing was a tremendous success and it is due to the generosity of dozens of families, companies and supporters of the Junior Bruins," Chris Masters commented. "We had great gifts for each golfer, a seemingly endless amount of raffle items and some incredible auction items. In addition to items donated we also had some families really step up and make significant contributions that helped us get close to our goal. Trian Partners was the title sponsor buying the Black and Gold Sponsorship package, the Harper family were Platinum Sponsors as well as Welch's Grape Drinks. Bank of America was a Silver Sponsor and we had a number of other companies and families who made significant contributions and we are thankful for that support."

"We also want to thank all of the volunteers who gave up their day to help make the day a success. We could not have pulled it off without their help."

The B's are already looking forward to next year and have some exciting news that we hope will take the Golf Outing to a new level.

As the cost of ice, referees, insurance, league fee’s and other hockey related costs continue to rise we have strived to keep tuition and travel costs as low as possible for those in our program. One way we have been able to do that is through corporate sponsorship and various fundraiser's. The Junior Bruins Golf Outing is our major summer fundraiser with monies being put back into the program and to be used for "need" based scholarships for those on our winter and summer teams.

Our goal is to raise over $25,000 through entry fees, hole and tee sponsorships, silent auction and raffles that we will have at the outing.

The cost per golfer is $175 and includes the following:

  • Full deli lunch
  • Greens Fee & Golf Cart

For more information on the course, one of the premier private clubs in the metro west area, and its facilities go to the course's web site: HOPKINTON COUNTRY CLUB

BRUINS WIN AGAIN!
Take Summer Showdown Title in OT

HOOKSETT, NH-While it is just a summer tournament, and it is premature to draw conclusions, there are reasons to be excited for both Junior Bruins' teams for this coming season. En route to the Summer Showdown championship at the Tri-Town Arena the Bruins' staff saw a lot of reasons to smile.

"A lot of players had great weekends, looked very good and I am excited for the season to get going," coach Peter Masters commented. "We will get another sneak peek at our EJ and Empire (as well as players on the Little Bruins) teams at the Eastern Summer Showcase in early August as most of our players will be there but based on what I saw this weekend the outlook is pretty positive."

JUST SHORT FOR '95's
LA Selects Too Much for B's

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA-After a big, upset win over the tournament favorite, Petcetera, the Bruins had the LA Selects to contend with in the finals. The Selects will be one of the top teams at the '95 level this coming season and featured a number of players that were on the West Coast Junior bruins team that played together at the Prospects tournament earlier this spring.

The Bruins got down 1-0 but tied the game when Ryan Cloonan scored on a breakaway at the end of a short handed situation. LA would score the next three to put the game nearly out of reach but the Bruins were able to fight back and get back into the game late but, after Matt Buckles and Niko Hildenbrand scored, LA scored again to put the game out of reach for good.

Playing for the Bruins in Vegas were forwards Cloonan, Buckles, Hildenbrand, JJ Huerena, Hamilton Whyte, Richard Grant, Clay Berger and Tim Doherty. At the blue line were Joey Raats, Daniel Billet, Joe Colatarci, Jeremy Gunn and Gianni Paolo (the only '96 on the team). In the pipes was Bryan McGrath.

"The week was a big success," coach Chris Masters said following the week in Vegas. "The players did a great job getting through a tough tournament field. We were not really sure what to expect when we got to Vegas and what the competition would be like. One appealing part of the tournament is that we would see some western Canadian teams that we normally don't see at Toronto, Montreal or Marlborough. Phoenix, the Wolves (Calgary), Petcetera (Vancouver) and the Selects made this a tough group of teams to play against."

"With only a game per day it also let all the players and families have a blast at the pool, seeing shows and hanging out with each other at the hotel. It is really a unique tournament and Las Vegas has something to offer everyone. We were somewhat concerned at the weather and if it would be too hot outside to do anything but it was fine and since it is so dry you don't really feel how hot it is. We will try to bring a team at each level the tournament offers next year (95-99's). This will be a good way to end the AAA tournament season for our program."

1995 Junior Bruins

ON TO THE FINALS!!!
Bruins Upset Petcetera, 6-1

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA-The semi finals of the North American AAA Summer Championships got underway Friday morning at the Las Vegas Ice Center and the Bruins upset the tournament favorites with a 6-1 win. While the score looks like it may have not been a close game, it was until a three minute explosion halfway through the third period.

The Bruins got down 1-0 in the first but goalie Bryan McGrath would shut the door after that and would be spectacular, especially in the the third period. The Bruins tied the game later in the period and then the teams would see a scoreless middle frame and head to the locker rooms tied, 1-1, while the ice was resurfaced.

Halfway through the third the Bruins exploded scoring three goals in just three minutes to run out to a three goal lead. The B's would add two more to put the game out of reach. The finals will bring another top team as the LA Selects, a combination of the LA Hockey Club and California Wave, won the other semi final.

This marks the 16th championship game of the 2007 AAA tournament team season. The Bruins have won 9 of the first 15 championship games they have been in this year. The Bruins have now entered 29 teams into tournaments this year and all but two of them have made the playoff round. The Bruins' AAA tournament team record now stands at 102-18-11 for the year.

ON TO THE SEMI'S
Bruins to Play Petcetera

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA-The '95 Bruins bombed the '96 Paramount team in their final round robin game and now have to play the tournament favorite and #1 seed Petcetera. Petcetera hails from Vancouver and they bring a perfect 4-0 record into the semi's.

B's SHUTOUT DORITO'S
McGrath, Cloonan Lead Bruins

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA-The Bruins picked up a win on Wednesday beating Team Dorito's 3-0 behind the shutout performance of goalie Bryan McGrath and a three point effort from forward Ryan Cloonan. The win puts the Bruins in position to move onto the semi finals on Friday with a win on Thursday.

The Bruins and the Dorito's were tied after two periods and, with the Bruins needing not only a win, but winning by two goals (the tournament has an odd system of awarding points and winning by two goals gives a team five points and that is what they needed), the team played with a sense of urgency and scored two power play goals in the early going of the third period. On the first goal Cloonan set up JJ Huerena and then Huerena returned the favor setting up Cloonan to make it 2-0. An insurance goal by Cloonan, on a beautiful give and go play with Tim Doherty, made it 3-0 and gave the Bruins the win.

The team finishes round robin play on Thursday with a game against the Paramount Gold team.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA-The '95 Junior Bruins are looking to set an organization record for ties in a tournament and in a season. After an opening game tie the Bruins prepared for their second game with the Canadian Wolves out of Calgary. The B's again had to come from behind, but did just that, three times. The final goal tied the game at 3-3 and it would end that way.

Later in the day the Bruins played Petcetera (in an exhibition game), another top team at the tournament, and tied them as well. That puts the Bruins tournament record at 0-0-2 and overall record this weekend at 0-0-3. Coupled with the two ties the team had at the Icebreaker tournament this team now has five ties which, at a quick glance, is a record for Bruins' teams.

On Wednesday the B's look to pick up their first 'W' in Vegas. In the midst of the games the players and families are enjoying most of what Vegas can offer. Players and families have been to Spamalot at Wynn's, Danny Gans at The Mirage and Love (Cirque De Soleil) at The Mirage, hung out at the pools, played golf, shopped at The Forum Shops at Caesar's, hit the casino tables and much more.

"This has been a great tournament so far. The competition has been good and having one game a day allows everyone to go to the pool, shop, sight see, visit all the casino's, go to shows and enjoy Vegas," coach Chris Masters commented. "It is hot but you don't "feel" the heat like you do back home since there is no humidity so it is fine to be outside even though it is 105 degrees. We hope to bring several teams here next year to enjoy the trip."

VIVA LAS VEGAS
Bruins Open Play in Sin City

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA-The Junior Bruins first trip to the "Entertainment Capital of the World" in underway. The 1995 B's arrived in Vegas on Sunday night and got down to business on Monday morning with a last second tie against Phoenix.

With all the neon lights, skyscraper casino's and excitement Vegas has to offer the Bruins were slow to wake up in their opening round game at the North American AAA Champions Cup. They fell down 3-0 halfway through the game but managed to get the game to 3-2 with minutes remaining in the second period when Matt Buckles scored a beautiful goal on a breakaway. The play was set up by an equally beautiful pass by defensemen Daniel Billet. Billet, from his own zone, threaded the needle and hit Buckles with an 120 foot pass at the offensive blue line and Buckles finished the play from there.

Scoring the B's first goal was Clay berger who tipped a Billet shot from the left point on the power play. The bruins came out flying the opening minutes of the third and JJ Huerena ripped a shot home on a 2-1 rush to tie the game. Phoenix caught a break minutes later when a shot from the point deflected off a Bruins' defensemen and got past goalie Bryan McGrath.

The bruins fought to the end and scored with only 4.5 seconds left when Niko Hildenbrand found Buckles on the left side of the net and he ripped one home to get the B's a much need tie.

Tuesday the Bruins play the Canadian Wolves at 11:45 AM.

They did just that beating the Connecticut Highlanders, Gator's Redwings and the Jets to move into the final game of the weekend against the Brandywine Selects.

'99's GET IT DONE
Beat Icemen and Pro Hockey Development in Playoffs

MARLBORO, MA-The '99 Junior Bruins finished their inaugural season with a bang winning the Icebreaker championship, 7-2, over the Toronto based Pro Hockey Development.

The Bruins ripped through the round robin beating the Montreal Viper Dogs 9-1, Gators Laurentides 12-3, Northeastern 26-0 and the Montreal Blades 10-0.

That gave the Bruins the #1 seed and a game with the host Boston Icemen in the semi's. The Bruins, after being up 2-1 after the first period opened up the scoring in the second scoring six times. They added three more in the third for an 11-1 final. Ben Rice had a hat trick and Aidan McDonough and Cam Burke had a two goal game while Chris Brown, Ryan Lovett, Peter Nugent, Marc McLaughlin and Myles Abbate each had singletons.

In the finals the Bruins were led by Lovett and Brown (two goals). Another strong suit for the '99's at Icebreaker were the quintet of defensemen that kept the Pro Hockey Development team at bay-Matt Poulin, Jack Rathbone, Patrick Dawson, Braden Tkachuk and Mike Callahan. Goalies Cory Tibbets and Keith Petruzelli were sharp all weekend as well.

That brings the season record to 15-1-1. The '99's went to the finals of all three tournaments they entered, winning at OTTF and Icebreaker and losing at the Warrior Montreal Meltdown.

"The '99's, like the 96's, 97's and '98's before them had a great inaugural season," Chris Masters commented. "The kids did a great job had a ton of success. We are already looking forward to having the, back again next year."

2007 Icebreaker Champs

CHAMPS!!!
'96 Bruins Shutout Powerbirds to Win Icebreaker Championship

MARLBORO, MA-The '96 Junior Bruins avenged their only non win of the tournament on Sunday afternoon when they shutout the Albatross Powerbirds, 5-0, to win the Icebreaker tournament. The '96 B's went 5-0-1 over the weekend en route to the title.

The only non win was a wild 7-7 tie against the Powerbirds in which the Bruins scored twice with the goalie pulled in the last minute to tie the game in the tournament opener.

In the semi finals the B's pounded the National Grizzly's, 9-2, behind a hat trick performance from Conor Garland and two goals from Brett Backman. Also scoring in the semi's were Brandon Fortunato, Ryan Tait, Sonny Milano and Bobby Dray. Goalie Ryan Colena was strong in net picking up the win.

In the finals the Bruins, why gave up 7 to the Powerbirds on Friday, played their best defense of the tournament as Fortunato, Gianni Paolo, Ryan Blais and Jake McCarthy were superb all game, as was goalie Josh Creelman.

Backman got the scoring started when he banged home a rebound early in the second period. That opened up the floodgates and the black and gold scored three more times to extend their lead to 4-0. Jack Eichel, on a nice set up from Tait, ripped a shot from the slot to make it 2-0. That was followed up by rebound goals by Garland and Robbie Marsanico. Milano put the game out of reach for good when he made a great play and found Marsanico who scored his second of the game and closed out the scoring at 5-0.

The '96 B's closed out their season on a high note winning at the Icebreaker and compiling a 12-3-1 record. The teams record, dating back to the their inception in 2004 is 37-10-2, has made 6 appearances in the finals and have only missed the playoff round once out of the nine tournament they have been to.

PERFECT 10!!!
'97 Bruins Top Atlantic All Stars to Win 10th Straight Title

MARLBORO, MA-This team knows how to win on Sundays. The '97 Junior Bruins beat the Montreal Vipers and Atlantic All Stars, both by a 4-3 score, to win the 2007 Icebreaker title at NESC.

The '97 B's are a perfect 10-10 in tournaments entered. They have three OTTF, three Mission Cup/Warrior Meltdown's, two Icebreaker, one CT. Yankee's and one NAHC titles on the mantle. In the three year existence of the team they have a 56-1-2 record.

After beating up on their four round robin opponents they ran into two tough games on Sunday in the semi's and finals. In the semi's the Bruins got goals from Noah Hanifin, Jeremy Bracco, Cam Fisher and Matt Dillon and a strong game in net from Kevin Resop to beat the Montreal Vipers, 4-3.

In the finals the Bruins came from behind to beat the Atlantic All Stars, 4-3, to capture their 10th tournament championship. The Bruins got a strong game out of forward Cam Burke who scored two goals to lead the offense. Also scoring were Justin Allen and Matt Dillon scored the game winner on a back hander set up by Hanifin. Elijah Harris was strong in net in the finals picking up the win.

2007 Icebreaker Champs

CHAMPS!!!
Bruins Take Hub Cup, 5-1

BRIDGEWATER, MA-After playing the waiting game to see if, and who they would play, in the semi finals the Bruins got the job done beating the Bandywine Selects in the semi finals, 2-1, and then topping the Walpole Express, 5-1, for the championship.

Saturday afternoon the Bruins needed a big win and they got just that pounding the Express USA team, 9-0. Bryan Kriner and Joe Pendenza each scored twice while Cody Learned, Paul Cinquegrana, Wayne Simpson and Justin Mansfield scored singletons.

In the semi finals the B's got goals Kriner and Logan Romano. Kriner scored on a Mansfield set up while Romano scored a nice goal taking a feed from Zach Sandonato on the half wall and then took it to the net hard scoring the game winner.

In the finals, the Bruins caught the Walpole Express tired, and they jumped on them early and did not look back. The Express came off a multiple OT semi final and they had nothing left in the tank. Kriner had a big weekend and capped it off with a hat trick. Colin Shea scored on a breakaway and Joe Pendenza rounded out the scoring.

"These guys played great all weekend," coach Andy Powers commented. "I told them to get us to Sunday and I will take care of the rest," he joked. "Witt was superb all weekend and really bailed us out when we got running around early in the tournament."

The B's were shorthanded all weekend playing with only 6-7 forwards each game due to three players "bailing" on their commitment to the team the day of the tournament. "It is amazing to see that players can so easily just not show up and follow through on their commitment," Chris Masters commented. "It affects the whole team and how the weekend can go. It is so tough to win with such a short bench and winning the tournament was that much more rewarding because of it. A player not showing and "bailing" on a team not only affects the coaches and team but also the other players and families who made the commitment and showed up to play. It was good to see it did not affect the players this time around."

AAA SEASON OFF TO RECORD START
64-13-5 Record Heading into Big Weekend

FRAMINGHAM, MA-The Junior Bruins AAA tournament team program is off to the organizations best start in the programs existence. The Bruins have entered 15 tournaments to date and have amassed a 64-13-5 record which is good for a .810 winning percentage. That is 10% higher than the average .700% the program has enjoyed over the last five years. In those 15 tournaments all but one (the Eastern Spring Showcase entry) have made the cross over playoff round. The Bruins have already won 6 tournament titles, been finalists at two others, semi finalists at two more and made four quarterfinalist appearances in those 15.

The Bruins are coming off their best performances at two of the top tournaments in North America. At the OTTF Spring Classic (Toronto) the Bruins were a combined 14-1-2; won two titles and were finalists at the other.

At the Warrior Montreal Meltdown the Bruins sent four teams up north and had a combined record of 20-3; won two titles, were finalists in one and semi finalists in another.

"We are really proud of the players and how they have performed so far. These tournaments are getting harder to win and the success our teams have had speaks volumes about the talent and hard work of the players," Chris Masters commented. "Not only have the kids been great on the ice but they, and their families, have been great to be around away from the rink. The weekends on the road have been a blast and we are looking forward to having seven of our teams playing at Marlboro this weekend."

After the busiest weekend of the year, where the Bruins could play as many as 42 games, the B's have a light schedule the rest of the year. In early July the B's have two teams at the Jr. Chowder Cup, then a week in Las Vegas with the '95's and the last tournament of the year is the Eastern Summer Showcase.

The Bruins' record to date for each birth year is:

FIZZLED OUT
1996 Junior Bruins Bow Out in Semi's

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-The Junior Bruins title defense at the '96 level at the Warrior Montreal Meltdown came to a crashing halt on Sunday morning as the B's lost to the Jr. Lions, 7-3, in the semi finals.

After going down 4-0 the Bruins fought back to cut the lead in half with 6 minutes to go in the third but that was as close as they would come. The Bruins two best shifts of the game were their first two and it looked like the Bruins were ready to play. On the third shift of the game the Lions scored and it was straight downhill from there. They would go on to score three more in the first two periods and take the 4-0 lead into the final frame.

Corey Hoffman scored on a Brett Backman set up to make it 4-1 early in the third. Minutes later Connor Garland scored a power play goal to cut the lead in half, take momentum and give the B's some hope that a comeback was possible. Just 73 seconds later the Lions scored and took the air out of the B's sails. They would go on to score two more and Sonny Milano scored the final goal of the game to make it a 7-3 final.

"We were out played and out worked by a talented team. It's as simple as that," coach Chris Masters commented. "We had a good weekend but a very disappointing finish. Hopefully we will learn from this and next weekend be ready every game to work hard and compete."

The 1996 Junior Bruins finish their season at the Icebreaker tournament June 22-24 at NESC in Marlboro, MA.

MOVIN ON!!!
'96 B's Beat Blades; Head onto Playoffs

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-The Bruins' fate was decided before the game started. A loss and they still advance to the playoffs on Sunday. A win meant a #1 seed, a perfect 4-0 record and continued momentum heading into the semi's.

The '96 Bruins, the last of four teams to play at the Warrior Montreal Meltdown, now make it a perfect 4-4 in advancing to the playoffs. In round robin play the Bruins are a combined 15-1 in Montreal. The B's will play one of the tournament favorites in the semi finals-the Montreal Jr. Lions.

The Bruins beat the Montreal Blades on Saturday afternoon by a 7-3 score. The Bruins got out to a three goal lead after one on goals by Austin Albrecht, Robbie Marsanico and Jack Eichel. They picked up two more in the middle stanza with Christian Dvorak and Eichel potting goals. The scoring was rounded out in the third with Albrecht picking up the hat trick. His second of the game was a great setup from defensemen Ryan Blais and his hat trick goal was a tip of a Blais shot from the left point. Goalie Chris Birdsll went the distance picking up the win.

The semi finals are Sunday morning at 9:00 AM.

COLENA SHUTS THE DOOR ON SNIPERS
B's Goalie Shines in 3-0 Win

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-Saturday morning the Bruins were tested by a tough Montreal Snipers team. The Bruins got a shutout performance by Ryan Colena and goals from Austin Albrecht, Sonny Milano and Jack Eichel.

The game was tight till the last five minutes when the Bruins scored twice to put the game out of reach but was nip and tuck for the first 29 minutes. After a scoreless second period Albrecht finished off a 2-1 rush that started in the team's own end with a defensive zone face-off. On the face-off Milano won a loose puck battle when the puck dropped and headed up ice and hit Albrecht on the right wing in the neutral zone. With Connor Garland driving to the net on the left wing side the defensemen took away the pass and Albrecht made no mistake about firing one five hole for a 1-0 lead.

The score would stay that way till the 4:41 mark of the third when Milano banged home a rebound. The play was set up by a nice 2-1 by Brett Backman and Corey Hoffman. Backman found Hoffman in front of the net with a nice pass and Hoffman got the puck to the net in a hurry. With the goalie making a great save but not able to react quick enough to the rebound, Milano gave the Bruins some breathing room. Three min minutes late, with just under two minutes to go, Eichel buried a Robbie Marsanico pass to put the game away.

The Bruins' defense has yielded only three goals in their first three games and have gotten strong performances from Jake McCarthy, Danny Sullivan, Ryan Blais and John Marino.

The team has one more round robin game to go and controls their own destiny as far as moving on to play Sunday in the semi finals.

OFFENSE EXPLODES
Bruins Put up Nine on Paramount

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-Friday at the Warrior Montreal Meltdown finished with a flourish as the Bruins poured nine into the Paramount Gold net in the team's 9-2 win. The team got goals Connor Garland (2), Jack Eichel (on a beautiful toe drag move to get in clean on the goalie and snap one top shelf), Brett Backman, Austin Albrecht (2), Corey Hoffman, Christian Dvorak (on a ridiculously good backhander) and Sonny Milano.

Goalie Ryan Colena went the distance picking up the win while the defensive pairing of Ryan Blais and John Marino had a strong game and were a +5.

GOOD START FOR 96'S
Bruins "Trick" Nova Scotia

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-The Junior Bruins' title defense began with an 8-2 win over the Nova Scotia Selects. The offense was ignited by the hat trick performance from Sonny Milano. Also scoring for the Bruins were Jack Eichel (2), John Marino, Jake McCarthy and Brett Backman. Goalie Chris Birdsll was sharp in net picking up the win.

LOOKING TO DEFEND
1996 Bruins Head North

A year ago they beat two of the best AAA teams in North America in the semi finals and finals as they beat Pro Hockey Development, 3-2, in the semi's and then beat the Montreal Ice Storm, 4-3, in the finals.

There will be no shortage of great teams in the Super AAA division again this year and the Bruins will have the following players with them this weekend: Christian Dvorak (95 Chicago Chill), Connor Garland (96 Boston Mission), Austin Albrecht (96 NJ Rockets), Sonny Milano (95 LI Royals), Brett Backman (95 Greenwich Blues), Corey Hoffman (96 LI Gulls), Robbie Marsanico (96 NJ Avalanche), Jack Eichel (95 Huskies), Joey Marooney (96 Philly Flyers), Ryan Blais (96 Providence Capitals), Jake McCarthy (96 Boston Mission), Dan Sullivan (96 Boston Mission), John Marino (96 South Shore Kings), Ryan Colena (96 Providence Capitals) and Chris Birdsll (96 NJ Avalanche).

YANDLE INKS THREE YEAR DEAL
B's Coach Signs Extension with Panthers

FRAMINGHAM, MA-Junior Bruins coach Mike Yandle recently signed a three year contract to stay with the Florida Panthers in their Scouting Department.

Yandle went from guiding the '93 Bruins to the semi finals at Prospects in Toronto to a week long series of draft meetings with the Panthers' brass.

"It is no surprise to us that the Panthers extended his contract," Peter Masters commented. "His eye for talent and work ethic are unmatched. Florida is lucky to have him"

BITTERSWEET SUNDAY AT PROSPECTS
Deep Playoff Run Ends in Semi's

TORONTO, ONTARIO-Winning on Sundays at the Prospects tournament is not easy. Advancing deep into the playoffs is that much tougher. Playing every two hours in shortened games that magnifies mistakes and getting down early all but seals your fate. The 1993 Junior Bruins got to the semi final round, winning their first two playoff games, and were only 50 seconds away from a date in the finals when the party ended for the black and gold in Toronto.

The Bruins opened with the SK Wheatland Stars and picked up a 3-2 overtime victory. That moved them on to the quarterfinals where they had the Culver Prospects, the #2 seed, waiting for them. Culver went 4-0 in the round robin and scored an 8-0 1st round playoff win, so they were coming in hot.

The Bruins again needed overtime, but were able to score the upset and win, 3-2. That moved onto the semi finals and a rematch with the Minnesota Blades. The Bruins got up 2-1 and were winning by that score with less than a minute to play. The Blades pulled the goalie and were able to score a 6-5 goal to tie the game. Just forty seconds later a costly turnover led to another Blades goal that ended the Bruins' playoff run.

"Making it this deep into this tournament is not easy. It is probably tougher to make it this far in this tournament than it was for the '97's to win in Montreal. You need to play very well on Sunday to win and you need to get lucky along the way," Chris Masters commented.

The '93's wrap up their season in late June at the Icebreaker tournament where they were finalists a year ago.

MOVING ON!!!
Two Wins for Bruins Send them on to the Playoffs

TORONTO, ONTARIO-The Junior Bruins and Minnesota Blades took to the ice Saturday morning and it turned out to be a dandy. The Bruins shutout the Blades, 1-0, to improve to 2-1 and continue to control their own destiny in regards to the crossover.

Saturday night the blitzed the True North team, 6-1, to run their record to 3-1 and secure the #7 seed in the 16 team playoff round.

The win over True North capped a great two days of hockey for the '93's. They had a killer schedule and played two of the best teams in the tournament in the round robin. Not an easy road to travel to get to play on Sunday. The Bruins drew the SK Wheatland Stars in their first round playoff game.

1-1 FRIDAY FOR BRUINS
Tournament Heavyweights Clash on Day 1

TORONTO, ONTARIO-The '93 Bruins opened with a 6-0 win over the Express USA team to get off to a good start at the Prospects tournament. The next game was with the East Coast Selects, one of the pre-tournament favorites along with the Bruins, on Friday afternoon.

The ECS got the best of the Bruins this day beating them 3-2. That put the Bruins at a 1-1 record and meant they were still in control of their own destiny. A 3-1 record at Prospects guarantees moving on to the playoff round so as long as the B's got it done on Saturday, they moved on. That would be easier said than done as the Minnesota Blades were on tap for Saturday morning. They are also a pre-tournament favorite and had two convincing wins on Friday.

93's OPEN IN HOGTOWN
Bruins Head to Prospects

Toronto SkylineTORONTO, ONTARIO-The '93 Junior Bruins are on their way to Toronto for the final Prospects tournament of the year. This is also the first of two tournaments the '93 Bruins will be at this season. In a month they play at the Icebreaker tournament in Marlboro.

The Bruins, while not winning a Prospects title this year, have had a good showing going a combined 14-7 with every team making the playoff round. The '93's will look to have the best showing of a B's team at the prestigious tournament.

The forwards is a strong group that has equal parts size, strength and skill. Wearing the black and gold will be Jimmy Vesey (93 Middlesex Islanders), Alex Gacek (93 Valley Elite), Matt Manzella (93 Minuteman Flames), Colin Blackwell (93 Valley Elite), Stephen Brown (93 BU Jr. Terriers), Chase Anderson (93 Florida Flyers), Kurt Krotz (93 LI Royals), Ben Foster (93 Toronto Marlies) and Dan McGinnis (BU Jr. Terriers).

At the point are four returnees to the '93 group in Zach Todd (93 Minuteman Flames), Derek Stahl (93 Valley Elite), Ross Scherma (93 Prospects) and JP Burnside (93 LI Gulls). Two '93 Bruins rookies are Cory Scammon (93 Florida Flyers) and Connor Fallon (93 BU Jr. Terriers).

In the net will be Tommy Knox (93 Boston Jr. Terriers) and Anthony Terenzio (Shattuck St. Mary's).

There will be five players who will be with the Junior Bruins next season with either the Junior Bruins (Empire) or the Little Bruins. Manzella and Todd will be with the program full time while Gacek, Yeodon and Vesey will be with the Little B's.

The team gets the iron of the tournament in the round robin as the '93's have the toughest draw of any of the Bruins' teams that played at the Prospects tournament. They drew Express USA, East Coast Selects, Minnesota Blades and True North.

BACK TO BACK!!!
'98 B's Defend Title; Beat Montreal Ice Storm, 6-0

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-After a wild semi final, come from behind win, the Bruins used that positive momentum and cruised to a championship over the Montreal Ice Storm. The Junior Bruins repeated as tournament champs in Montreal beating the Ice Storm, 6-0.

Goalies Kyle Casey and Tim Callahan combined for the shutout and the Bruins got a hat trick from Jake Chychrun, a two goal effort from Patrick Harper and a singleton from the semi final hero, Johnny DeRoche. As they did Saturday night the defensive crew of Cesana, Ward, Fontaine, McInnis and McCool were dominating at keeping the Storm offensive guns in check.

Chychrun was named game and tournament MVP. He was a beast all weekend scoring big goals and dominating with his size, strength, skating and skill. The Bruins were perfect all weekend going 6-0 outscoring opponents 37-9.

"We played much more as a team here in Montreal then we did in Toronto, and it showed," Chris Masters said following the tournament. "Not that we didn't play as a team in TO. To reach the finals at OTTF you need to play well and as a team, but we were better right from the drop of the puck here and got better as the weekend went along. That could be attributed to the fact that it was our second tournament and the kids were more familiar with each other or that they just made an effort to move pucks more, not care who scored and who got the credit. Who knows...whatever the reason it was nice to see us continue to move in the right direction."

The team wraps up their season at the Icebreaker tournament in late June. They head to the tournament as defending champs.

WILD!!!
Bruins Pull Win out of their Hat in Final Minute

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-After beating the Renegades 9-2 on Friday the Bruins thought they had an easy road to the finals. They thought wrong. The Renegades, who employed a very smart defensive strategy, were able to keep the Bruins' offense at bay most of the game and they held a 3-2 lead with less than a minute to play. That is when the heroics started and the Bruins won one of the most memorable games in BRuins' AAA history.

NJ got out to a 1-0 lead in the first as the B's played their worst period of the year. They were slow, lacked any type of competitive intensity and just plain did not look good. PAtrick Harper tipped a shot from the point to even the score at one and they were lucky to be tied. NJ was completely outplaying the Bruins.

In the second the Bruins started to get their bearings and spent a lot of time in the NJ zone but could into score. The Renegades were energized when they scored twice in a 15 second span to take a 3-1 lead in the second. The Bruins' players did not panic and stuck to the game plan and got right back to work. Jack McCool rushed the puck on a power play and got a shot to the net and Graham McPhee would whack home the rebound, something he would do later in the game, to bring it to 3-2 with 17 minutes to play in the game.

The Bruins spent virtually the entire third period in the NJ end but could not get shots to the net and it looked like time was running out on them. The B's pulled their goalie with a minute to play and when McPhee jumped on the ice as the extra attacked he made a bee-line for the net and almost at the same time he got there a rebound off a Chychrun shot found its way to his stick and he buried the rebound to pull the game even at 3-3.

The Bruins' bench, and those on the ice, went wild when, with just 8.8 seconds left, John DeRoche tipped a Dennis Cesana shot from the left point, collected his own rebound and scored the game winner.

"The kids deserve a lot of credit for not panicking when we went down 3-1 and just staying focused and continuing to work hard," coach Chris Masters commented. "They showed they are a resilient group and that last minute was crazy. We know how it feels to be on the other end of that as we had it happen to our '93 team a few weeks ago at Prospects. This time we got lucky and were able to capitalize."

MOVING DAY AT WARRIOR
B's Remain Perfect; Move onto Semi's

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-The offensive explosion continued in Montreal with a 10-1 win over the CT. Yankees on Saturday morning. Johnny DeRoche led the way with a hat trick and Jake Chychrun had a two goal game. Dennis Cesana picked up his first of the weekend making a nice rush that started in the Bruins' own end. Also scoring was Monty Graham, Ryan Ward, Patrick Harper and Rudi Ying.

In the nightcap, with a berth already in the playoff secured, the Bruins and Montreal Ice Storm had a big tilt scheduled. The Ice Storm also came into the game undefeated at 3-0. The Bruins got their sternest test of the weekend to date and needed a strong game from their defensemen and goalies. While the offense did their job scoring five goals it was the quintet of rearguards and goalies who shut down a very potent Storm attack. Cesana, McCool, Ward, Luke McInnis and Skyler Fontaine all did a great job of keeping the Storm forwards, some of who were among the best in the tournament, to the perimeter and clear from getting to rebounds. Goalies Tim Callahan and Kyle Casey made some big saves when the Storm got to the net and had some great scoring chances.

Harper got the Bruins on the board and a 1-0 lead. After the Storm tied it DeRoche and Ying combined for a nice 2-1 to get the lead right back. The Bruins' two second period goals extended the lead to 4-1 on goals by Chychrun and McPhee. Chychrun's goal was typical of the scores he had all weekend as he ripped the puck "top shelf" and was a force throughout the tournament. He had about five of those in the six games. The teams exchanged third period goals with Ying scoring his second of the game.

The win secured the top seed a rematch with the Renegades in the semi's.

BACK TO BUSINESS
Bruins Pick Up Two Wins Friday at Warrior

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-The Bruins got off to a great start at the Warrior Montreal Meltdown with a convincing 9-2 win over the NJ Renegades in their opening game and then pasted the Montreal Vipers, 14-1. The Vipers were finalists at the tournament a year ago.

The Bruins got four first period goals to get out to a lead against the Renegades. Scoring in the first were PAtrick Harper, Jake Chychrun, Ryan Ward and Graham McPhee. Johnny DeRoche scored the lone goal in the middle frame while Monty Graham, Chychrun, DeRoche and McPhee scored again the third to close out the scoring.

Against the Vipers the offensive parade started early and hit often as the black and gold found the back of the net eight times in the opening period with Ryan Ward, Rudi Ying, Chychrun (2), DeRoche, Brendan Hamblet, Mitchell Walinski and Harper all scoring. Chychrun scored twice more in the second for a nice 4 goal game and McPhee, Jack McCool, Harper and Deroche added singletons in the third.

LOOKING TO REPEAT
1998 Junior Bruins Head to Montreal as Defending Champs

Montreal SkylineFRAMINGHAM, MA-A year ago the Junior Bruins headed to Montreal coming off a strong showing at the OTTF Spring Classic. The same can be said this year. Heading to Montreal they are coming off an appearance in the finals at OTTF and looking to repeat at tournament champs in Montreal.

Last year the B's had a perfect 6-0 weekend and beat the Montreal Vipers, 8-3, in the finals. There is another strong tournament field awaiting the '98's. This year the team will be in the Super AAA division (last year there was no Super AAA level offered) and will have to tangle with the likes of the Montreal Vipers, Montreal Ice Storm, CT Yankees and the NJ Renegades in the round robin play. Another tournament favorite is the Toronto Bulldogs, who the Bruins would only see in the crossover.

The team will have Kyle Casey (98 Middlesex Islanders) and Tim callahan (97 Florida) in the pipes. In front of them are defensemen Dennis Cesana (97 Providence Capitals), Luke McInnis (98 bay State Breakers), Ryan Ward (98 Minuteman Flames), Jack McCool (98 BC Jr. Eagles) and Skyler Fontaine (98 Providence Capitals).

Up front are Monty Graham (98 Bay State Breakers), Johnny DeRoche (97 Assabet Valley), Rudi Ying (96 Beijing Cubs), Graham McPhee (98 Washington), Jake Chychrun (97 Florida Panthers), Mitchell Walinski (98 Providence Capitals), Patrick Harper (98 Westchester Express) and Brendan Hamblet (98 Minuteman Flames).

The team gets going Friday morning and opens up with the Renegades.

JUST SHORT
'99 Downed in Finals at Warrior

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-The '99 finals at the Warrior Montreal Meltdown was a clash of the only two undefeated teams at the Warrior Montreal Meltdown. The St. Hubert Gouvenuers (Montreal) and Junior Bruins both were 5-0 coming into the finals. The Bruins were fresh off a big win over the top team in Toronto, the Toronto Bulldogs-Gold, in the semi finals.

The Bruins championship dreams were dashed when the Gouvs took advantage of some Bruins' turnovers that led to three goals and proved to be the difference in the game. The Bruins mounted a comeback, being down 5-3 in the final minute, scoring to make it 5-4 with 25 seconds to play, but could not get the equalizer to send it to OT.

In the semi finals the Bruins beat one of the top '99 teams in North America-the Toronto Bulldogs (Gold) team. The Bruins got down 1-0 in the first but got the game tied when Matt Allen, who was a force all game, went coast to coast scoring to tie the game. He scored again just into the second period making a power move to the net off a face off and ripping a shot past the Bulldogs goalie. After the Bulldogs tied it up Marc McLaughlin scored a short handed goal to take the lead back when he banged home an Allen rebound on a 2-1 rush.

In the third the B 's got two more goals to put the game out of reach by Ryan Lovett and Cam Burke. The Bruins defensemen played their best game of the weekend keeping Toronto to the perimeter and limiting quality scoring chances. Matt Poulin, Andrew Diebus, Michael Callahan, Matt Guittari and Jack Rathbone were excellent all game long.

STAYING PERFECT
Bruins Offense Continues to Roll

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-The offensive firepower the '99 Bruins have continue to fire away putting up 17 goals on Saturday en route to two more wins and a perfect 4-0 round robin record.

In the morning the Bruins beat their third Montreal based team in a row as they took down the Montreal Ice Storm by a 9-2 score. Tibbets again played the morning game as Petruzelli was still fighting off a cold. Matt Fawcett, Cam Burke (2), Ryan Lovett (3), Aidan McDonough, Matt Allen and Marc McLaughlin did the scoring.

In the afternoon it was time for the Bruins and Toronto Wildcats to play and the Bruins, again, were too much for the 'Cats. Allen (2), Burke (3), McLaughlin (2) and Myles Abbate provided the offense.

SHUTOUT FRIDAY
Bruins Pitch Shutouts to Open Round Robin Play

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-The '99 Junior Bruins won 7-0 and 11-0 against the Montreal Vipers and Montreal MEtro Blades, respectively on Friday. Goalie Cory Tibbets went the distance in the morning game and pitched a shutout while Marc McLaughlin, Ben Rice, Cam Burke (2), Ryan Lovett (2) and Aidan McDonough did the scoring.

In the afternoon game Tibbets and Keith Petruzelli combined for the shutout with Lovett (5), Matt Fawcett, Burke (2), Matt Allen (2) and McDonough scoring.

'99's LOOK TO MAKE THEIR MARK IN MONTREAL
Warrior Montreal Meltdown on Tap; B's Go for Two in a Row

FRAMINGHAM, MA-The 1999 Junior Bruins, fresh off their OTTF Spring Classic championship, will head to Ville-Marie (the original name for Montreal) and try to go back to back at the Warrior Montreal Meltdown. It will not be easy as the top Montreal teams, who were not in Toronto, will be on hand as well as the Toronto Bulldogs.

This is not the same Bulldogs team the Bruins played in the finals at OTTF. This Bulldogs team is their Gold team and has won every tournament they have entered. They have split with the Bulldogs team the Bruins played in Toronto winning once and losing a tight one the next game they played.

The '99's have both Keith Petruzzelli (99 Springfield Pics) and Cory Tibbets (99 Minuteman Flames) back in the pipes.

At the point are Matt Poulin (99 Top Gun), Matt Guittari (99 Providence Capitals), Michael Callahan (99 South Shore Kings), Andrew Diebus (99 Minuteman Flames) and Jack Rathbone (99 South Shore Kings).

There is only a couple of changes up front with Matt Fawcett (Providence Capitals) moving from defense to his normal position. Making his Bruins debut is Aidan McDonough (99 South Shore Kings). Cam Burke (98 Minuteman Flames), Ryan Lovett (99 South Shore Kings), Matt Allen (99 Providence Capitals), Ben Rice (98 Bay State Breakers), Mark McLaughlin (99 Minuteman Flames) and Myles Abbate (99 South Shore Kings) are all back for their second tournament of the year with the team.

"We are looking forward to the weekend and playing the top Montreal teams and, hopefully, getting a crack at the Bulldogs team," coach Chris Masters commented.

The team opens play Friday morning at 9:15 AM against the Montreal Vipers.

CHAMPS!!!
1997 Bruins Junior Sont des Champions à Montréal Pendant la Troisième Année Droite

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-They have done it...again! For those who can read French, they already know the B's have won in Montreal for the third straight year. The 1997 Junior Bruins beat the Montreal Ice Storm team on Sunday, 7-5, to win the Warrior Montreal Meltdown. The win makes the '97's a perfect 9-9 in tournament championships. Their record now stands at a remarkable 51-1-2 and in addition to the Three-Peat at OTTF in Toronto earlier this month, they now have a Three-Peat in Montreal.

This win is also a first for this tournament in that no team has ever won its age group since the addition of the Super AAA division. The 1984, 1985 and 1986 Montreal Metro teams won three years in a row when the tournament was first offered but there was no Super AAA division.

After shutting out the Vancouver Selects, 3-0, in the semi finals they drew the top team in Montreal in the finals and when Justin Allen backhanded the puck into the net after a scrum in front that gave the Bruins the lead for good with three minutes to play. A Charlie McAvoy empty netter sealed the game and the Bruins piled onto the ice to celebrate another tournament title.

This was a rematch of the finals from a year ago. In 2006 the Bruins beat the Storm, 3-1, in the finals. In 2005 they beat Halifax 12-1 in the finals.

In the semi finals the Bruins got goals from Jeremy Bracco, Luke Kirwin and Colin White while goalies Kevin Resop and Elijah Harris pitched in for the shutout.

In the finals the Bruins got down 1-0 early in the going on a defensive miscue. The Bruins bounced right back scoring three unanswered goals from Alex King, Bracco and Kirwin. The Ice Storm got one back to make it 3-2 but Kirwin scored again, with five seconds left in the period, to make it a 4-2 lead after one.

In the second the Bruins were outscored 2-1 and took that 5-4 lead into the final frame. Cal Burke scored the second period tally for the Bruins.

The Bruins one goal lead evaporated in third when the Ice Storm tied the game at 5 apiece. It was about five minutes later when Allen got the game winner and two minutes after that when McAvoy got the empty netter.

This marks the 9th tournament in a row the Bruins have entered and won. They go for number 10 at the Icebreaker tournament in late June.

ON TO THE SEMI'S!!!
Streak Snapped in 52nd Game; Bruins Head onto Playoffs

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-It was bound to happen at some point. This powerhouse team had steam rolled through their first 51 games without a loss. A truly remarkable feat and one that will be near impossible to replicate. In their 52nd game they lost to a good Pro Hockey Development team, 2-1. Prior to that game they continued their stingy defensive play and beat the Casselman Pirates by a 6-0 score.

The defense core of Noah Hanifin, Alex King, John Marino, Matt Lombardozzi and Charlie McAvoy have been outstanding all weekend. "This may be the best five we have ever had on one team at the '97 level," coach PEter Masters commented. "That is saying something given the talent and success our '97's have had."

Matt Dillon got the scoring started and was followed by Luke Kirwin, Justin Allen and Jeremy Bracco. Dillon and Bracco got their second of the game to round out the scoring.

That afternoon the Bruins could not solve goalie Izzy Benigno out shooting PHD by a 25-10 mark. The Bruins got on the board first when Alex King scored on a shot from the point in the second period.

They took that lead into the third but could not hold onto it and lost 2-1. The loss was not enough to keep the Bruins out of the playoff round. They moved on and had a semi final date with the Vancouver Selects on Sunday morning.

"The fact that this team had never lost is a minor sports miracle," Chris Masters commented. "We know how tough it is to win a tournament, let alone every game you play and that these kids did it for that long says a lot about how good the players are. It was great to see them bounce back from that loss and still finish the weekend off, we are very proud of this team. Our goal is for the kids and families to have a fun weekend and to make the playoff round. Once you get to the playoff round...anything can happen. For this group to do what they have is unique."

"It is tough sometimes to look at other teams' success within our program and into compare it to the success of the '97 team but we have some other groups that are as good as we have ever had. Our '98 team has been to every final, has a 21-2-1 record and has won two of the four tournaments they went to. Our '96 team has also had great success with a 23-10-1 record and making the finals of every tournament but two. Our '99 team is off to a good start as well but it is too early to tell how good they can be," Masters finished.

GOOD START IN MONTREAL
Extend Streak to 50 with 9-1 and 5-0 Wins

MONTREAL, QUEBEC-The '97's B's romped the Durham Icebreakers, 9-1, and then shutout the Montreal Metro Blades, 5-0, on Friday to start their title defense in Montreal. Those two wins now run the teams three year record to 48-0-2 and they have now gone 50 games without a loss.

In the Durham game the Bruins got goals from Jeremy BRacco, Cal Burke, Justin Allen (2), Colin White (2), John Marino, Luke Kirwin and Collin Rutherford.

Goalies Kevin Resop and Elijah Harris combined for the shutout against the Blades in the afternoon while the B's got goals from White (2), Allen, Alex King and Bracco.

97's HAVE EYES SET ON THREE-PEAT...AGAIN
Warrior Montreal Meltdown Up Next for Bruins

Montreal SkylineMONTREAL, QUEBEC-The Bruins first trip to Montreal is this weekend and it will be the 1997 Junior Bruins making the trek up north. This will be the '97's third year at the tournament, formerly known as the Mission Cup, and they head there as the two time defending champs. They have sights set on their second straight Three-Peat coming off their first in Toronto a couple of weeks ago at the OTTF Spring Classic.

Like they saw at OTTF, there will be no shortage of great teams in Montreal looking to unseat the champs. The Pro Hockey Development (Brick team), the Montreal Ice Storm, Montreal Metro Blades and Vancouver Selects, to name a few, are among the top teams at this age level. The Bruins/Pro Hockey Development game on Saturday afternoon should be a great one.

The roster at Montreal will mirror the one that was at Toronto, save for three changes. Up front Cal Burke (97 Minuteman Flames), Matt Dillon (97 Minuteman Flames), Jeremy Bracco (96 LI Gulls), Luke Kirwin (97 Syracuse Stars), Colin White (97 South Shore Kings), Luke Stevens (97 South Shore Kings) and Justin Allen (95 Rochester) all return for their second tournament of the year. The lone change at the forward position is Collin Rutherford.

At the blue line John Marino (96 South Shore Kings), Noah Hanifin (97 South Shore Kings), Charlie McAvoy (97 LI Gulls) and Matt Lombardozzi (97 Minuteman Flames) will be back. Rounding out the blue line is Alex King (97 Compuware) who will be making his Bruins' debut.

Kevin Resop (96 Florida) is back in the pipes and will be joined by Elijah Harris (97 Minuteman Flames. Harris has been with the B's in the past but will be making his '07 debut in Montreal.

The '97's will have the Durham Icebreakers, Montreal Metro Blades, Casselman Pirates and Pro Hockey to contend with in round robin play.

OVERTIME THRILLER WON BY '99 B's
Lovett Scores to Bring Title to '99's

Ryan LovettTORONTO, ONTARIO-The '99 Junior Bruins capped off a great inaugural weekend with a thrilling overtime win over the Toronto Bulldogs at the OTTF Spring Classic. Forward Ryan Lovett (pictured-left) scored the game winner just seconds into overtime to send the '99 B's pouring onto the ice to celebrate.

The Bruins got off to a good start, and the lead, by carrying the play for virtually the first 18 minutes of the game. Bulldogs goalie Mario Peccia was excellent in net making a ton of saves and keeping his team in the game. Chris Brown finally broke the stalemate and scored on a Cam Burke feed to give the B's the 1-0.

It looked like the game may stay that way as the 'Dogs could not solve either Cory Tibbets or Keith Petruzelli and the defensive quintet of Mike Callahan, Andrew Diebus, Matt Fawcett, Matt Guittari and Matt Poulin did a great job all game limiting offensive chances and always clearing out rebounds.

The hometown team did manage to score in the third and tie the game up. The bruins had three of four great chances to win the game in the waning minutes of regulation as they had a couple of breakaways and took some shots from "point blank range" but Peccia was a human wall in net.

The game then went to OT and that is where Lovett potted the championship winning goal. Off of the face-off at center ice to start the OT the puck was won by Lovett, and, after skating into the Bulldogs zone on the right wing side, he ripped a wrister using the 'Dogs defensemen as a screen and it caught the inside of the left post and into the back of the net.

Forward Ryan Lovett was named the Tournament MVP as well as the Finals MVP. he is pictured above with both MVP trophies.

"These players did a great job," coach Pat Nugent commented. "We ran into some great goalies who made 25-30 saves a game just to keep their teams in games. Players at this age can sometimes become frustrated by that and try to do things on their own. This group stayed positive, kept moving pucks and continued to get shots to the net. It was nice to see them rewarded for that and start the year off on a nice note."

The '99 Junior Bruins inaugural tournament has a familiar pattern to it for staunch Bruins followers. In 2005 the '97 Junior Bruins tied their second game of the tournament, won every other game and needed an overtime goal to bring them their first championship and start an undefeated stretch that is going on three years now.

Exact same as the '99 B's at OTTF.

ONTO THE FINALS
Two Saturday Wins Put B's in Finals

TORONTO, ONTARIO-Saturday morning the '99's had tough game with the World Class All Stars but managed to pull out a hard fought 4-2 victory. That win put them into the semi finals later that night. The B's got a two goal effort from Ben Thomas to pace the offense. Ryan Lovett and Matt Allen also scored. Goalies Cory Tibbets and Keith Petruzelli were both sharp in net splitting duties en route to the win.

The B's drew the West End Boys in the semi finals and they got a big game from forward Cam Burke who bagged the hat trick and was a force all game. Also scoring in the 9-2 win were Ben Rice (2), Lovett (2), Thomas and Marc McLaughlin.

In the other semi final at this age level the Toronto Bulldogs got a herculean effort from goalie Mario Peccia and won in the 4th overtime, 2-1.

IN CONTROL
'99's Open with Win and Tie at OTTF

TORONTO, ONTARIO-The '99 Junior Bruins opened their season with a big win over the Maitland Sharks and then had a scare with Pro Hockey Development who nearly scored with seconds left that would have given them the win.

The Bruins got up 3-0 and then saw that lead evaporate when PHD scored on a 5-3 late in the third. The Bruins had about a half dozen golden opportunities to score and pick up the win but the PHD goalie came up big. They are still in control of their own destiny and with two wins tomorrow they will find themselves in the finals.

1999 JUNIOR BRUINS SET TO DEBUT
Team Opens Play at OTTF

FRAMINGHAM, MA-The newest Junior Bruins team is set to makes its debut this Friday at the Westwood Arena in Toronto at the 2007 OTTF Spring Classic. It is the first of three tournaments the team will compete in this their inaugural season. After their trip to Toronto the group heads to Montreal in early June and then plays in Marlboro at the Icebreaker tournament. Also headed up to Toronto this weekend are the 1997 and 1998 Junior Bruins who will also be at OTTF. A Junior Bruins team of '88's-'90's will be just down the road at the Prospects tournament.

Here is a preview of the players heading to Toronto along with the team they played for last season in parenthesis.

The '99's have two top tenders on the team as Keith Petruzzelli (99 Springfield Pics) and Cory Tibbets (99 Minuteman Flames) will be splitting time in between the pipes.

At the point are Matt Poulin (99 Top Gun), Matt Guittari (99 Providence Capitals), Michael Callahan (99 South Shore Kings), Andrew Diebus (99 Minuteman Flames) and Matt Fawcett (99 Providence Capitals). This group of defensemen's strong suit is their skating as all five of them have good feet, speed and can cover a lot of ice in short amount of time.

The team has some serious firepower up front. There are a hand full of players that can put up big numbers and there is a ton of skill and talent throughout the eight forwards. The forwards consist of Cam Burke (98 Minuteman Flames), Ryan Lovett (99 South Shore Kings), Matt Allen (99 Providence Capitals), Ben Thomas (98 Gardiner), Ben Rice (98 Bay State Breakers), Mark McLaughlin (99 Minuteman Flames), Myles Abbate (99 South Shore Kings) and Chris Brown (99 Minuteman Flames).

"There is always a bit of nervous anticipation when one of our teams steps on the ice for the first time because, as good as the team may look on paper, you never know how that translates to on the ice. Those nerves are a bit stronger when it is a team that is playing together for the first time ever. We have a good idea how teams that played together the year before are going to do based on past performance but with this team we have no idea. We are excited at how the team has come together and the talent and work ethic of the players we have so Friday morning can't come quick enough," Chris Masters commented.

BACK TO BACK TO BACK!!!
'97 Junior Bruins Three-Peat at OTTF

TORONTO, ONTARIO-This was a weekend of firsts in Toronto at the OTTF Spring Classic. The '97 Junior Bruins trailed in a game for the first time in the team's history, which is a stretch that now runs three years and over 49 games. The game they trailed in was the championship game on Sunday afternoon against the hometown Toronto Bulldogs. After trailing 2-0 the B's showed their mettle and had their first ever come from behind victory scoring four straight to beat the 'Dogs, 4-2. Jeremy Bracco had two while Justin Allen scored the game winner and Luke Kirwin pounded home an insurance goal late in the third.

This was also the first time in OTTF history (as best we can tell from looking at past results and talking to the tournament director) that a team has won its age level three consecutive years.

Prior to the finals was a wild 7-6 win over the Vancouver Vipers in the he semi finals. This was a much anticipated game between two '97 AAA power houses. The Selects had been crushing teams in their path to the semi's but ran into a buzz saw in the first period as the defending champs got out to a 5-1 lead on goals by Stevens, two by Bracco, Kirwin and Burke. With the game well out of reach, so they thought, the Bruins got a little lackadaisical in their own end, turned pucks over and Vancouver capitalized and fought back several times to make it a close game. Each time they did the Bruins would score a big goal to keep them two goals down for most of the game. White and Bracco scored second period goals that gave them a 7-5 lead entering the third. Vancouver scored once more to make the finals minutes interesting but the Bruins quintet of defensemen-Noah Hanifin, Charlie McAvoy, John Marino, Matt Lombardozzi and Brendan Miller and goalie Kevin Resop all held down the fort and the Bruins were off to the finals for the eight straight time.

In the finals the Bruins got down early as the Bulldogs scored 14 seconds into the game. The B's carried the play the rest of the period but could not get the game tied. Toronto scored again four minutes into the second and now the B's trailed, 2-0. There was no panic on the Bruins' bench and the team quickly got the game back under control as Bracco scored less than minute later to cut the lead in half on a beautiful goal. Bracco, the tournament MVP, would score his 11th of the weekend to tie the game four minutes later.

With the title on the line the teams headed into the third with the game all square at 2-2. Midway through the period Stevens outworked a 'Dogs defensemen behind the net and found Allen alone in the slot who ripped the wrister home to give the B's the lead. Minutes later Kirwin pounded a shot from the slot at the end of a shift to give the Bruins a little breathing room down the stretch.

As the clock hit 0:00 the B's piled onto the ice to celebrate their 8th straight tournament title and the OTTF Three-Peat!

"This is a remarkable team," coach Chris Masters commented. "I have never seen a team like it or a streak like they have been on these last three years. It is not just the talent level but the hard work, 'team first' attitude and competitive intensity that makes this such a special group. We get contributions from so many players and the teams greatest strength is its depth and our ability to come at teams in waves. It is not just one or two players carrying the team. The players, and they deserve all the credit, have compiled a 46-0-2 record, won all 8 tournaments they have played in and have done it in the top tournaments. They should be proud of themselves."

"One of these days, and it could be the next time we play, we will lose but we are going to enjoy this while it lasts and work hard to make sure that day is in the distant future," he continued.

Up next for the Bruins is the 1997 Warrior Montreal Meltdown (the renamed Mission Cup) where they will be going for another Three-Peat.

97's KEEP IT GOING
Two More Wins Send B's to Semi-finals

TORONTO, ONTARIO-The last round robin game was as close a game as the Bruins have had since 2005. The Bruins played the Toronto Rangers and got off to a 1-0 lead on a Colin White goal in the first period. That would be all the offense the team could muster as the team played as poorly as they have in the teams history. A lack of focus and playing till the whistle cost the Bruins the lead as the Rangers tied the game in the second period.

It would stay that way the rest of the game and the Bruins were able to escape with a tie and move on to the playoff round as the #1 seed out of their bracket where they would face a tough Team Brick Alberta.

The lackluster game against the rangers was a nice wake up call for the B's and they came out flying and shutout the Albertans, 5-0 behind two goal performances from Bracco and Allen and a singleton from Luke Stevens. Burchill and Resop were again both solid in net en route to the shutout.

The B's moved onto the semi finals with the win.

OFF AND RUNNING!!!
Perfect Friday for '97's

TORONTO, ONTARIO-The 97 Junior Bruins opened their title defense at OTTF with two big wins beating the Gouvenuers and Pro Hockey. In the opening game of the year the Bruins beat the Gouvenuers 10-2 behind the hat trick of Matty Dillon. Justin Allen and Colin White were multiple goal scorers picking up two apiece while Luke Kirwin, Jeremy Bracco and Cal Burke.

Goalies Kevin Resop and Jake Burchill combined for a shutout of the Toronto based Pro Hockey Development, 11-0. BRacco had a four goal game while Cam Fisher and Cal Burke chipped in with two goals to pace the offense. Other scorers were John Marino, Charlie McAvoy and Allen.

Saturday they open with Toronto Rangers and then have a quarterfinal game that afternoon.

'97 JUNIOR BRUINS LOOKING FOR THREE-PEAT
Team Looks to Make History in Toronto

FRAMINGHAM, MA-The 1997 Junior Bruins make their 2007 debut this weekend in the city where it all started. When they arrive in Toronto for the OTTF Spring Classic as two time defending champs they will look to do something that no team has ever done at OTTF-the Three-peat!

The team's success has been overwhelming in its first two seasons winning every tournament they have entered and never losing a game. That will be a far tougher challenge this season and at this tournament as this will be the toughest field the '97's have ever faced.

With the likes of Honeybaked, Ottawa Riot, STL Elite, Winnipeg Jr Jets, Belle Tire, Team Brick Alberta, Toronto Bulldogs, Compuware, Vancouver Vipers and Pro Hockey at the '97 level it is a "Who's Who" of AAA tournament teams.

Here is who will be sent over the boards for the Junior Bruins: Forwards Matt Dillon (97 Minuteman Flames), Jeremy Bracco (96 LI Gulls), Cal Burke (97 Minuteman Flames), Justin Allen (96 Rochester), Colin White (97 South Shore Kings), Cam Fisher (97 Minuteman Flames), Luke Stevens (97 South Shore Kings) and Luke Kirwin (97 Syracuse Stars).

At the point are Noah Hanifin (97 South Shore Kings), John Marino (96 South Shore Kings), Brendan Miller (97 Rochester), Charlie McAvoy (97 LI Gulls) and Matt Lombardozzi (97 Minuteman Flames).

In the net are the duo of Jake Burchill (97 South Shore Kings) and Kevin Resop (96 Florida) who teamed up a year ago at the 2006 OTTF Spring Classic and backstopped the team to its first title of last season.

"This is always a fun group to be around," Chris Masters commented. "There is a ton of skill and a great group of kids. They work their tails off, play as a team and it is a great group of parents. This team will have a new set of challenges this weekend as there are some heavy duty teams we will have to get through if we are to have the success we did here the last two years."

Games begin Friday morning.

JUST SHORT FOR '98's
Penalties Kill Bruins in Finals at OTTF

TORONTO, ONTARIO -Sunday morning began on a high note for the '98 Junior Bruins as they dispatched of a very tough Vancouver Selects team in the semi finals of the Novice Division at the OTTF Spring Classic, 4-2, behind a strong performance from goalie Bryan McGrath.

Their day ended on a sour note, however, when the STL Elite team topped the B's in the finals, 5-2 behind three power play goals and an empty netter that put the finishing touches on the game.

In the semi's the Bruins got two goals apiece from Jack Badini and Landon Quinney to go along with the stellar performance from McGrath. While McGrath was called on to make a lot of big saves the defensive crew of Chad Krys, Luke McInnis, Jake Chychrun, Skyler Fontaine and Dennis Cesana did a great job at limiting second chances and keeping the shooting lanes clear so McGrath could see the shots.

After the big win it was on to the finals and a rematch from last year's finals with STL Elite. The bruins got down quickly 2-0 before battling back and tying the game with goals from Alex Nylander. The Bruins parade to the penalty box continued to cost them as STL got two more PP markers (their third of the game) to make it a 4-2 game. An empty netter in the final minute put the game permanently out of reach.

While the tournament ended on that sour note, the team had another great weekend and a strong showing reaching the finals for the fourth straight time (in as many tries as well) and running their overall record to 19-2-1 over the past two seasons.

"This is a very talented group and they can't lose sight of what they accomplished by letting the finals blur their view of how successful the weekend was," coach Pat Nugent commented. "We lost to the top AAA team in North America, at least that we have seen, and had we been a bit more disciplined we might have had a shot at beating them. They are a great team and you can't give great teams, regardless of what level it is, that many power plays and think they won't capitalize."

"We will learn from that and be better and more prepared next time."

The '98's head to Montreal, as the defending champs, for the Warrior Montreal Meltdown in early June.

WINS CONTINUE TO PILE UP IN TORONTO
B's Move onto the Semi's...Again

TORONTO, ONTARIO -Saturday morning the Bruins' offense cranked it up to another level pummeling The Chiefs, 12-1, to move onto the quarterfinals with a 3-0 record and the #1 seed in their bracket. In the quarterfinals the Bruins were too much for the Snarlin Dogs as they coasted to an 8-5 win and into the semi finals.

In the big 12-1 win the black and gold got a hat trick from Graham McPhee and a two goal game from John DeRoche. Rounding out the scoring was Jake Chychrun, Mitchell Walinski, Landon Quinney, Chad Krys, Monty Graham, PAtrick Harper and Jack Badini.

In the quarters Quinney and Walinski had hat tricks while Badini and McPhee had singletons. Again Casey and McGrath split duties in net and kept the 'Dogs at bay when they had sustained attacks and were putting pressure on the Bruins throughout the game.

The win moves them onto the semi finals where they have the Vancouver Selects on deck.

'98's BEAT BUZZERS AND MAITLAND AT OTTF
2-0 Friday in Toronto

TORONTO, ONTARIO -The 98 Junior Bruins extended their winning streak to 14 games with two wins Friday at OTTF. In their opening game the Bruins beat the Junior Buzzers 8-1. The team's balanced scoring attack was evident by the seven different scorers. Alex Nylander was the only multiple goal scorer while Jack Badini, John DeRoche, Landon Quinney, Mitchell Walinski and Monty Graham had single tally games. Goalies Kyle Casey and Bryan McGrath split duties in net and both were sharp.

In the afternoon the offense continued to churn as the '98's beat the Maitland Sharks by a 7-2 score. Nylander again had two goals, as did Quinney. with DeRoche, Graham McPhee and Graham scoring. While not showing up on the score sheet the Bruins' defensive core was excellent on Friday and would continue through the weekend as Jake Chychrun, Dennis Cesana, Skyler Fontaine, Chad Krys and Luke McInnis did a great job of not only limiting the other teams scoring chances but also starting the offense with good breakout passes and smart reads in the defensive zone.

Saturday morning the they square off with The Chiefs and then have a quarterfinal game later in the day.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1998 Junior Bruins Head Back to OTTF

FRAMINGHAM, MA-A year ago the '98 Junior Bruins made their debut at the OTTF Spring Classic and, while they had a great showing, they came just short of winning the tournament losing in the finals to STL Elite. This year they have their eyes on picking up that final win on Sunday afternoon.

The '98 Bruins, after that loss in the finals, won 12 straight and took home the Mission Cup and Icebreaker titles so they take that winning streak into this years OTTF. A season ago their overall record was 16-1-1.

There are eight players who played on the team last year and seven newcomers and every one of them brings something to the table. Goalie Bryan McGrath (98 Minuteman Flames) returns and will look to build on a great first season with the '98 B's. Joining him is Kyle Casey (98 Middlesex Islanders) which will give the team a great goaltending duo.

On the blue line there are three vets and two rookies. Dennis Cesana (97 Providence Capitals), Skyler Fontaine (98 Providence Capitals) and Jake Chychrun (97 Florida Panthers) all were with the B's last year and are back for a second tour of duty. They are joined by two dynamite newcomers in Chad Krys (98 Westchester Express) and Luke McInnis (98 Bay State Breakers).

Up front there is some scary talent...new and old. Two forwards who were impact players a year ago are John DeRoche (97 Assabet Valley Patriots) and Landon Quinney (97 Las Vegas Outlaws). Both will be in Toronto this weekend where they will be reunited with Monty Graham (98 Bay State Breakers) and Mitchell Walinski (98 Providence Capitals) who were both with the team last year. The newbies at forward are Alex Nylander (97 Greenwich Blues), Patrick Harper (Westchester Express), Jack Badini (97 Greenwich Blues) and Graham McPhee (98 Washington Caps). Brendan Hamblet was scheduled to play this weekend but a case of Mononucleosis has put him on the shelf.

"There are some pretty good teams at this tournament and the defending champs are clearly the team to beat so we will need to be ready right off the bat," Chris Masters commented. "We will get to work Thursday night at practice in Toronto and get this talented group to start to work together. We are looking forward to the weekend."

SPRING FLING TITLE BACK WITH BRUINS
Bruins Repeat as Tournament Champs

MARLBORO, MA-A year ago it was at the Midget Minor Division. This year it's the Midget Major Division. The result-the same. The Junior Bruins entry at the Spring Fling was the runaway winner of their division as they pounded teams all weekend and finished the tournament with a 10-0 win.

The roster included forwards Steve Moses, Bryan Kriner, Steve Morra, Wayne Simpson, John Henrion, Justin Mansfield, Nico Santaniello, Cody Learned, Mike Borge and Sean McLaughlin. On the blue line were Mike White, Colin Shea, Evan Gogonis, Joey Dillon and Danny Federico. Goalies were Petie Von Rosenvinge and Connor Toomey.

"We knew the tournament field would not be tough but wanted to get some of our guys who are skating at Prospects, Eastern Spring Showcase and some other May events some game ice as a tune-up and to just have some fun at the rink. The season is a long grind and every game is taken so seriously that every now and then it is good to just lace up the skates, get together with a good group and have some fun and not worry about scouts, how you play or what the coach thinks," Chris Masters commented following the weekend. "This weekend was strictly about having some fun with and getting some skating in."

UPSET SUNDAY AT PROSPECTS
Top Seeds Fall in Playoffs

TORONTO, ONTARIO-The Junior Bruins got to the rink Sunday morning and had the 9:15 AM game and watched the #1 seed play the #8 seed just before them. In what turned out to be the norm for the day the underdog came up with the win and knocked off a tournament favorite and a top seed. Sunday at Prospects can be a crazy day of hockey and upsets and top seeds being knocked of happens more at this tournament than any other. This Sunday was no different as the #1, #2 and #3 seed all lost first round playoff games.

The Minnesota Blades beat Montreal Lions, 6-2, and just the night before the Bruins had beaten the Blades 7-5. The B's, as the #2 seed, had the #7 seed Roadrunners to deal with. The Roadrunners got out to a 1-0 lead before the scored three straight to take control of the game. The 'Runners fought back and twice brought the game to a one goal deficit. With the Bruins winning 4-3 with under a minute to go the boys from Phoenix scored to send the game to OT.

In the OT the 'Runners took a shot from the blue line that found its way past goalie Josh Creelman and dashed the Bruins' chances of returning to the finals of the tournament.

"As the weekend progressed I thought we got better as a team and could really make some noise on Sunday," coach Toby Harris said following the OT loss. "We had a few breakdowns and stretches where we fell asleep and that is all you need to do at a tournament like this. The teams and talent level are so high that you can't afford let downs, especially on Sunday with the short games. This a good group of kids and players and I know we are already looking forward to Montreal and a chance to redeem ourselves."

The '96 Bruins will take a break for a month and then get back together for the 1996 Warrior Montreal Meltdown where they are defending champs.

TWO WINS SATURDAY FOR 96'ers
3-1 Record Good Enough for #2 Seed

TORONTO, ONTARIO-After a tough loss on Friday afternoon to the eventual #1 seed Lions the Junior Bruins rebounded with their best game of the weekend with a 9-1 pounding of Prime Time on Saturday afternoon. Sonny Milano set the tone in the first shift of the game scoring two goals and they did not look back from there.

Saturday night they got it on with the Minnesota Blades and the game went back and forth for the first 30 minutes. After falling behind 3-2 in the second half the Bruins scored two quick ones to take the lead for good. The final was a 7-5 win. Ryan Colena went the distance picking up the win.

As the #2 seed they will take on the Phoenix Roadrunners Sunday morning at 9:00 AM.

UP AND DOWN FOR '96's
Beat Paramount, 8-2 and Lose to Lions 6-3 on Day One at Prospects

TORONTO, ONTARIO-In the '96's opening game the black and gold beat the Paramount Gold team who had to play part of the game without a goalie, 8-2. Later that afternoon the Bruins were outplayed by the Montreal Lions and lost 6-3. Sonny Milano, Jeremy Bracco and Brandon Fortunato all scored in the losing effort.

The '96 division looks to be a strong one as only two teams went 2-0 on Friday. All others won one and lost one. With a solid Saturday the Bruins can still be a top seed for the playoffs on Sunday.

'96's INVADE TORONTO
AAA Season Begins North of the Border

TORONTO, ONTARIO-The 1996 Junior Bruins got together for the first time this season on Thursday night in Toronto for practice.

The team kicks off their AAA tournament season on friday at the Prospects tournament. The '96'ers, who were finalists a year ago at this tournament, start off with Paramount Gold and the Montreal Metro Lions on Friday and have Prime Time and St. Mike's on Saturday.

The B's have two returning goalies to put in the pipes in Ryan Colena (96 Providence Capitals) and Josh Creelman (95 NJ Rockets). To compete at this tournament you need two, top flight tenders and the team has that with Colena and Creelman.

At the blue line the B's have five good ones in Pat Horrocks (96 Boston Mission), John Carlson (96 South Shore Kings), Jake McCarthy (96 Boston Mission), Brandon Fortunato (96 LI Gulls) and Danny Sullivan (96 Boston Mission).

The black and gold have some guns up front to roll out in forwards Matt Culot (96 Top Gun), Sonny Milano (95 LI Royals), Connor Garland (96 Boston Mission), Jeremy Bracco (96 LI Gulls), Brett Backman (95 Greenwich Blues), Rob Marsanico (96 NJ Avalanche) and Austin Albrecht (96 NJ Rockets). The team lost forward William Nylander on Thursday morning with a bad case of the flu that is running through his family. The forward group is a good mix of size, skating and skill.

"I like how the team looks on paper," coach Chris Masters commented, "how that translates onto the ice is another story but we have a nice group to work with. We have some forwards who can really skate and move pucks and our defensive core has a lot of size and they looked sharp in practice last night moving pucks and working with each other and our goalies are tournament tested so we are in good shape there. We have some of the toughest teams in the tournament to play in round robin action so we will need to work hard to even have a chance to win. It is a strong tournament field so it should make for an exciting, fun weekend."

1995 PROSPECTS RECAP

BLOODY SUNDAY
Upsets Continue in Toronto

TORONTO, ONTARIO-Much like the 96 division the 95 playoffs started off with a #8 seed knocking off a #1 seed as the Regional Express team took down the '95 Bruins, 2-1. The b's got up 1-0 and looked to be in good shape. That was until Brian Williams got whistled for a questionable checking from behind call that got him a game ejection. Williams, one of the best players in the entire tournament, had been a horse for the B's all weekend and his leadership and presence was missed in the final 20 minutes of the game.

Regional tied the game then took the lead and the B's could not find the equalizer to send the game to OT.

"This is a talented group of players who know how to move pucks, skates well, plays a team game and competes hard," coach Chris Masters commented. "It is always tough to feel great about the weekend after a loss but this team should hold their heads high, they had a great weekend."

95's EARN #1 SEED AT PROSPECTS
4-0 Record After Round Robin Play

TORONTO, ONTARIO-Saturday brought more success as the '95 Junior Bruins beat up on the Screaming Eagles and Prime Time Skillz to go 4-0 in round robin play and earn the #1 seed in the playoff round.

They will face the #8 seed Regional Express Gold Sunday morning at 8:00 AM.

TWO WINS FOR '95's ON FRIDAY
Good Start to Prospects Tournament

TORONTO, ONTARIO-The 1995 West Coast Junior Bruins opened the tournament with a come from behind win over Regional Express. The Bruins twice fought back from one goal deficits with goals by Hamilton Whyte and Brian Williams to send the game to overtime. In OT Andrew Oglevie outworked two defenders behind the Express net to find Williams in the slot who one timed the pass scored the game winner.

In the nightcap the B's beat the Screaming Eagles 7-1 behind the three point games of Garrett Gamez (hat trick) and Trevor Moore ( two goals and an assist). Also scoring for the B's in that game were Max Becker and Scotty Savage.

95's TOP TORONTO PRO DEVEMLOPMENT
Comrie, Williams Lead Way in 5-3 Win

TORONTO, ONTARIO-The 1995 West Coast Junior Bruins got off to a great start as they beat the PHD in an exhibition game on Thursday night as a tune-up to the Prospects tournament that starts on Friday.

The team, made up of players all from the southern California area, had a shaky first period as they got their legs and adjusted to the speed of PHD. Goalie Eric Comrie played very well and made several key saves to keep the score at 1-0.

The B's scored the next three goals and they were highlight reel goals to take a 3-1 lead. PHD cut the lead to 3-2 but the Bruins struck back immediately to regain their two goal lead. The see saw third continued when Toronto made it 4-3 late in the third. The game was put out of reach when Brian Williams won a face-off in the neutral zone to winger Trevor Moore. Moore found Max Becker with a pass and Becker then found the empty net to round out the scoring.

The B's begin round robin on Friday with an opening game with Regional Express. Full team preview to be posted Friday.

JUNIOR BRUINS BRUINS AWARD WINNERS
Morra, Foy, Knapp and Sullivan Take Down Honors

FRAMINGHAM, MA-In late March the Junior Bruins held their end of the season banquet at Maggiano's in Boston. The Junior Bruins (Empire) awards went to Steve Morra (MVP), Nick Foy (Most improved), Connor Knapp (Defensive Player of the Year) and Sean Sullivan (Unsung Hero) all were award winners.

Morra led the team in scoring with 94 points. His 72 regular season points was good for third in the league and his 18 points in the playoffs led all scorers. He was a league All-Star, Offensive Player of the Month and was named to the 1st Team All Conference.

Foy had a 48 point season with 38 of those coming in league play and another 7 in playoffs. His steady improvement proved pivotal to the teams success. During the second half of the year he started to turn things on and turned a corner in his development. That second half was evidenced on the score sheet and in his overall effectiveness as a player.

Knapp had a remarkable season and had one of, if not the best, in Empire league history. He led in GAA, save percentage and wins. He was named Goalie of the Month, was a league All-Star, named to the 1st team All Conference and was voted Best Goalie in the league. his strong play continued into the playoffs where he was a perfect 5-0 and led all goalies with a 1.24 GAA.

Sullivan, voted as the team captain by his teammates, had a great year but one that sometimes went overlooked. It was not overlooked by those teammates or the coaching staff. Sullivan put up a 50 point season and did a great job helping lead the league's youngest team to its best record, a playoff title and a berth at Nationals.

SILVER CUP PREVIEW
B's Set to Take on National Powers

GRAND RAPIDS, MI-Thursday afternoon the 2007 Jr. B National Championship will kick off as the top 12 teams in the land compete for the Silver Cup. The Junior Bruins, making their second straight appearance, have a tough division to come out of as they have three time defending national champions St. Louis Blues in their path. Before getting a crack at them on Saturday the black and gold will have their hands full with Suffolk PAL and the El Paso Rhino's. Only four teams from last year's '06 Silver Cup are back. Joining the Bruins and Blues again are the Minnesota Ice Hawks and the Phoenix Polar Bears.

For full tournament info go to the following site: JUNIOR B NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

Junior Bruins vs. Suffolk PAL Silver Shields
Thursday at 1:15 PM the puck will drop and the B's will have the Met League's #2 seed. Suffolk, while a #2 seed from their league, was the top team in the Met and were upset in the championship game by a tough Valley Forge Minutemen team. PAL was the regular season champs and have a young skilled team that amassed an impressive 40-3-0-3 record.

"Suffolk is similar to our team in that there are a good number of young, talented players and they skate well, attack with speed and have some dangerous players. There are a lot of similarities between our two teams and the same problems we present to other teams we will have to deal with in playing the Long Island boys," coach Chris Masters said.

Junior Bruins vs. El Paso Rhino's
Friday night the Texas based Rhino's and the B's get it on at 7:30 PM. El Paso is the #2 seed out of the Western STates League and is a team similar to a team the B's played a year ago at nationals in the Queen City Cutthroats. They are a predominantly 19-20 year old team who try to wear teams down and use their size, age and strength to their advantage. El Paso brings a 44-8-1 record into the tournament.

"We don't know much about El Paso other than that they will be a very tough team to beat. They provide a different set of problems then Suffolk does in that they will be an older more experience team. They also have some players who put up big numbers this year so we will have to keep our eyes on them and make sure we keep them in check" Masters commented.

Junior Bruins vs. St. Louis Blues
Saturday the Bruins and Blues play for the second straight year at nationals. A year ago the Blues added two empty net goals to win, 4-0. They bring a 44-5-0-1 record into their Silver Cup defense.

"It's pretty simple, they are the three time defending national champions. They are the team to beat and I know we are looking forward to the game," Masters said.

Masters continued, "I am excited for the games to start and I know the team is as well. I like how we match up this year at the tournament and while there is not an easy game in the tournament I think if we play our game by skating and moving pucks, continue to get solid play from our goalies and special teams we could make some noise."

CHAMPS!!!
Bruins Top Monarchs, 4-2 to Win Empire Title

2007 Empire Champs

Steve MorraTROY, NY-The championship game of the Empire Junior Hockey League came down to a match between the Junior Bruins and their rivals to the north-the NH Jr. Monarchs. After beating them the day before in round robin play, 8-3, they met again with the league title on the line. For the ninth straight time in two seasons the Bruins beat the purple and gold behind a two goal game from Steve Morra and a three point game from John Henrion, 4-2.

This was the fifth meeting of the season for these two teams. The two played three regular season games with the B's winning 5-1, 9-3 and 4-3 respectively. The fourth meeting was the aforementioned 8-3 pasting a day earlier in round robin play of the Empire Final Four (EFF). This fifth meeting would be a 50 minute game as it was the teams' second game of the day.

The Bruins struck first while on a 5-3 man advantage. Evan Gogonis moved the puck to the left wing flank where Henrion teed up a one timer. The rebound was kicked out to the right side of the net and Morra pounced on the rebound to make it 1-0 six minutes into the game. While the Bruins out shot the Monarchs 19-7 in the first half they could not extend their lead.

Evan GogonisIn the second half, only 2:42 into it, Cory Kane outworked a 'Narchs defender behind the net and then found Henrion in front who one timed it home to make it 2-0. Ten minutes later Jay Pietrasiak scored a power play goal to cut the lead in half. The Bruins regained their two goal lead five minutes later when Morra scored another power play goal. Henrion and Gogonis picked up assists on this power play marker as well. The Monarchs did not go down without a fight as they brought it to within one when Pietrasiak scored off a face-off in the Bruins zone with the goalie pulled for the extra attacker.

With the score 3-2 and the goalie pulled again the Monarchs lost a loose puck battle in the Bruins end and Joey Dillon skated the puck out of the zone and found an open Paul Cinquegrana on the right wing side of the ice and scored an empty netter to put the game out of reach and give the Bruins the Empire League's Playoff championship.

2007 Empire Champion Captains

Connor KnappGoalie Connor Knapp went the distance for the win making 26 saves. Knapp had a strong playoff performance coming off his Best Goalie Award for his regular season efforts. Knapp was 5-0 in playoffs and had a 1.24 GAA and a .959 save percentage.

In round robin play the Bruins got off a great start with Knapp recording a shutout over Applecore, 4-0. Dillon, Gogonis and Henrion scored power play goals and Cinquegrana scored a breakaway goal to provide the offense. Saturday the Bruins got a hat trick from Henrion in the 8-3 win over the Monarchs and goalie Clay Witt made 34 saves for the win. Sunday morning Witt won again making 45 saves and was spectacular in doing so. The line of Adam Nugent, Nick Foy and Justin Mansfield each potted one in the 3-1 win.

"We are so proud of the players and how they played over the course of the year and the playoffs," coach Chris Masters said. "To win and be successful over the course of a six month regular season and then go 8-0 in playoffs when everyone is trying to take you down is a real credit to the players and their talent, mental toughness and character. They deserve all the credit."

With the win the Bruins ran their 2006-2007 Empire Jr. League record to 48-3-1. They are won back to back Empire Jr. League Regular season titles and now have the 2007 Empire Jr. League Playoff title to the mantle. They also qualified for USA Hockey Jr. B Nationals for the second time in as many years. The team heads out to Grand Rapids, Michigan where they will face off with the St. Louis Jr. Blues, El Paso Rhino's and Suffolk PAL.

Empire Championship

50!!!
Henrion Scores 50th Goal of the Year

John HenrionTROY, NY-In a season where one of the league's youngest players has scored a ton of goals, and a ton of big goals, he made his 50th of the year a big one as well.

John Henrion, the teams leading goal scorer, scored a power play goal in the opening game of the Empire Final Four on Friday and that got him his 50th on the season. That goal also extended the B's lead during the 4-0 win.

Henrion, a 1991 birth year from Holden, MA has been a key to the Junior Bruins (Empire) success this season. That success has been a regular season title, a playoff title and a berth at USA Hockey's Jr. B Nationals to compete for the Silver Cup.

Henrion scored 43 regular season goals for and added five more while with the Junior Bruins (EJHL) and Little Bruins team. That brought him to a season total of 48 heading into playoffs. He missed the first two playoff games due to an illness but came back to play in the Bruins/Breakers series where he picked up goal number 49. After picking up number 5-0 in the opening game of the Empire Final Four he netted a hat trick the next day against the Monarchs in an 8-3 win. He was not done on the weekend scoring a key goal in the championship game (also against the Monarchs) to hit goal number 54.

"Hank had 16 goals his first year with us (as a 14 year old), 35 a season ago and now another big jump to 50 plus," coach Chris Masters commented, "so his improvement from season to season has been great. It is a testament to his work ethic and talents. There are not many players that have come trough our program, or that we see period, that can shoot the puck like him. He shoots it like a pro with a scary release, a ton of steam behind it and a nice scoring touch. Scoring 50 is not easy and it was great to see him hit that milestone."

Henrion led the league in game winning goals with 12 and was among league leaders in power play tallies as well.

Connor KnappFRAMINGHAM, MA-The Empire Junior League handed out its season awards and Junior Bruins goalie Connor Knapp was voted as the the league's best goalie. Knapp, a 1990 birth year goalie out of York, NY is in his first season with the Junior Bruins and was a big key to the team's.

Knapp led the league in virtually every goalie statistical category and was also voted to the 1st Team All Conference. Knapp led the league in goals against average with a 1.66 GAA, led the league in save percentage with a .932%, led the league in wins with 22 and was among league leaders with 3 shutouts.

Those 22 wins set an Empire League record. No one, in the 10 year history of the league had ever pulled down 22 wins in regular season play. His 1.66 GAA is third best in league history while his save .932 save percentage is second best in league history.

"Connor has been a rock for us back in the pipes, as has Clay Witt," coach Chris Masters commented. "I feel there was no better goalie duo in the league and it really takes a lot of pressure off our forwards and defensemen knowing that if they make a mistake they have the goalies to bail them out."

"Connor, after about the first month of the season brought his game together and has not looked back. He lost his first start of the season and then ran off 22 straight wins and those included some big ones against Pittsburgh, Bay State (3) and the NH Jr. Monarchs (2). He has continued that play into playoffs as he is again leading all goalies through the first two rounds."

This award, like most ones, are also dependent on a strong supporting cast. "I am sure Connor would be the first to thank his teammates, and his defensemen in particular, for this award and point out that they are a big reason he picked up the Best Goalie Award," Masters conitnued.

Congratulations to Connor.

BRUINS SWEEP WEEKEND
5-2 Win Over Hitmen and 4-2 over NH Jr. Monarchs Propel Team Towards Playoffs

HOOKSET, NH- After 45 games of EJHL competition the Bruins regular season came to a close Sunday afternoon with a gritty win over the junior teams chief rival, the NH Jr. Monarchs. With that win the Bruins were able to secure their 5th straight 30 win regular season and even the season series with the first place Monarchs at two wins a piece.

Earlier in the weekend the Bruins made short work of their sister team, the Jersey Hitmen, on the campus of U-Mass Amherst 5-2. The team got a one goal and one assist performance from Evan Macintosh and Kyle Solomon. Rich Stine was good in net shutting out the bad guys in his 30 plus minutes of play.

On Sunday afternoon, in Hooksett, the Bruins got down early in the contest 1-0 on the third shift of the game but fought back in the first period to outshoot the home team 11-6 and tie the game on a Jake Coyle (pictured-left) tally. Justin Pallos was robbed a moment earlier on a great save but Coyle was "Johnny on the spot" picking up the rebound and tying the game 1-1.

The teams would trade goals in the second period with Steve Moses' scoring a high light real, top shelf power play goal. In the third period Jon Wolter would pound home a long shot from the point to put the good guys up 3-2. Wes Vesprini, who was great all game, would steal the show in the third turning back over 20 shots to preserve the victory. Captain Justin Pallos would finish the game with three assists and a + three while Edwin Shea, Ryan Criscuolo (pictured-right) and Josh Burrows would all play great games on the back line.

The Bruins will spend the week getting ready for their first round opponent, Apple Core, for this weekends first round of playoffs.

BACK TO BACK
Bruins Repeat as Empire League Champs

Junior BruinsMARLBORO, MA-On Wednesday afternoon the Junior Bruins and NE Jr. Falcons had a matinee at the New England Sports Center and a win would lock up the Empire Junior League's Regular Season Championship for the B's. The B's, behind a four goal game from Derek Arnold (pictured-below right), won, and, for the second year in a row, are regular season champs.

Derek ArnoldThe Bruins got out to a 5-0 lead on goals by Arnold (2), Justin Mansfield, Paul Cinquegrana and captain Sean Sullivan. After the Falcons got one back the B's scored three more off the sticks off Arnold (2) and Nick Foy. The Falcons got two late goals to close out the scoring at 8-3. Goalie Clay Witt picked up the win making 18 saves.

The B's had a season for the ages as the team and players set league records in numerous categories. The team and its players also led the league in several offensive and defensive categories. All this done as being the youngest team in the league. "To accomplish what this group has has been remarkable," coach Andy Powers commented. "As defending champs we knew we would have a target on our backs and having 15 new players on our team made the challenge that much greater. We lost a lot of firepower from last year's team but the returning players and the new guys did a great job filling those shoes and not missing a beat."

The Bruins finished the regular season with a 40-3-1 record which matched the win total of the prior year which is an Empire League record. No other team has put up a 40 win season, let alone two in a row. The Bruins two season record in regular season play in Connor Knappthe league is 80-7-2 which is good for a .900 winning percentage. En route to their second consecutive regular season title the Bruins led the league in goals against with 85 and GAA with 1.93 on the season. That 1.93 is second best in Empire league history. Clay WittThe Bruins goaltending duo of Connor Knapp (pictured-left) and Clay Witt (pictured-right) were big reasons the team had the success it did. Knapp had a big year leading the league in virtually every goalie statistical category.

Knapp, a '90 goalie out of York, NY, led the league in wins (22), GAA (1.66), save percentage (.932%) and win percentage (.960%). He was third in the league with three shutouts. Witt, a '91 out of Brandon, FL, was right behind Knapp as he was 4th in the league in wins (18) and GAA (2.13), 3rd in win percentage (.86%), 5th in shutouts (2) and 7th in save percentage (.912%). Knapp's 22 wins is a league record and his 1.66 GAA is third best in league history while his save .932 save percentage is second best in league history.

Tommy MonteiroJoey DillonIn addition to the strong play out of the teams' goalies the defensive corps of Tommy Monteiro (pictured-left), Evan Gogonis, Joey Dillon (pictured-right), Colin Shea, Steve Ginand, Danny Federico and Ryan Brothers were strong all season. In addition to their strong defensive play that led to leading the league in fewest goals allowed at 85 they also had a pair that were among league leaders for defensemen in scoring. Evan Gogonis, a 1990 from Northboro, MA, led the Bruins in scoring and broke the team record of points for a defensemen in a season (league play) with his 6-50-56 line. Those 56 points were second only to '88 Mike Kavanaugh who led the league in scoring for a defensemen. Gogonis' 50 assists were second in the league (including forwards). Dillon had a 34 point season which was good for 4th in scoring amongst defensemen and his 33 assists were 3rd amongst defensemen.

Steve MorraJohn HenrionThe Bruins, in addition to being the league's stingiest defense, also had the most explosive offense leading the league in goals scored per game with a league high 253 goals scored and an average of 5.75 per game. The team was the only one in the league to have four players in the top 10 in league scoring. Derek Arnold's 38 goals-39 assists for 77 points was second in league scoring, Steve Morra's (pictured-left) 31 goals-41 assists for 72 points was third in league scoring, John Henrion's 43 goals-25 assists for 68 points was sixth in league scoring and Cory Kane's 29 goals-32 assists for 61 points was eighth in league scoring. Henrion (pictured-right), a '91 forward from Holden, MA led the league in game winning goals with 12. Arnold, Morra, Henrion and Kane were also the top four scorers in the National Conference.

Cory kaneThe black and gold's special teams were also among team leaders. The penalty kill unit was second in league with a 90.21 success rate. They also were fourth in short handed goals scored with 12. On the other side of the penalty the team had the third most power play goals with 63.

"One of the goals we set at the beginning of camp way back in August was to repeat as league champs and to realize that goal the players deserve all the credit. We feel the teams in the league are better than last year and winning was tougher this year than it was a year ago. The most positive sign is the development and improvement of the players and the team as a whole. We are a far different team than we were at the beginning of the season and the improvement across the board is the result of the players' hard work throughout the season," coach Chris Masters commented. "We are excited at accomplishing one of our goals and are excited at the prospect of getting back to the playoff championship game and taking one step further than we did last year."

The Bruins, who have earned home ice throughout the playoffs, will host the Green Mountain Glades in the first round of playoffs starting March 3 at NESC in Marlboro, MA.

2006-2007 Junior Bruins-Empire League Regular Season Championship

RECORD SETTING
Gogonis Breaks White Assist Record

Evan GogonisMARLBORO, MA-Saturday night in Troy, NY Junior Bruins defensemen Evan Gogonis set up John Henrion for a one timer on the power play and when Henrion found the back of the net that gave Gogonis his 46th assist of the season in league play. That mark broke the record set last year by Mike White. White's 45 assists was a record for defensemen for the Bruins in league play.

Gogonis added to that total Wednesday against the NE Jr. Falcons and he now has 48 which is tops in the league amongst all players. After a quick search through the Empire League statistics archives it looks like the league leader for defensemen at the end of the season will be a league record. Brewster's Mike Kavanaugh, an '88 defensemen, has 47 heading into the final weekend of regular season play. Whoever, Gogonis or Kavanaugh, ends up with a higher mark after this weekend will have set a new league record.

Steve Moses' league assist record of 53, set last year, is also in jeopardy if Gogonis has a big weekend. A quick search of the archives also seems to point to that Moses' 53 is a league record (all players) as well as a Bruins record.

"Evan has done a great job for us this year," coach Chris Masters said. "He has been a real key to our success in defending as league champs. It is nice to see his hard work over the last two seasons pay off like this. He has come a long way since his first day with us in August of '05."

MEANT TO BE BROKEN
Records Falling and About to Fall

FRAMINGHAM, MA-Last season was a record breaking year for the Junior Bruins (Empire) team as many organization records fell including a record for wins as last years team won 59 games. Stevie Moses had a record breaking season setting records for goals in a season as well as points. Last year, being the first in the Empire league, also had league marks set by Moses for goals, assists and points.

This season two records have already fallen as Evan Gogonis has broken Mike White's point record (league games only) from last season and John Henrion broke Mike Cichy's game winning goal record. White, a season ago, had 45 points in league play and Gogonis has already surpassed that with his 4-45-50 line. White's assist record of 45 in league play will fall with Gogonis' next assist.

Some other records that could fall in the next few weeks are Moses' 45 goals in league play as Henrion has 41 with 7 games to play. White's assists in a season of 55 could be broken if Gogonis picks up 10 more. Moses' assist mark of 53 in league games only is also in jeopardy to Gogonis.

The team also has a chance to best the win total in the league from last year. This year the team sits with a 34-2-1 record and they have 7 more games to go. Winning all 7 sets the new mark at 41 wins. They also look to shatter the goals allowed mark of 2.53 last season. They currently have a GAA of 1.94. A large part of that success is the season and records being set by the Bruins' goalie tandem. Connor Knapp is setting marks for the organization for GAA and save percentage.

Below are season records for the Junior Bruins (Empire) team. Records in jeopardy have the player on their heels in red next to them.

  • Goals in a season: 71-Steve Moses
  • Assists in a season: 83-Dave Boehm
  • Points in a season: 148-Steve Moses
  • Plus/Minus in a season: +59: Edwin Shea
  • Points in a season for a defensemen: 63-Mike White (Evan Gogonis-53)
  • Assists in a season for a defensemen: 55-Mike White
  • Goals in a season for a defensemen: 19-Edwin Shea
  • Plus/Minus in a season: +59: Edwin Shea
  • Goals (League games only): 45-Steve Moses (John Henrion-41)
  • Assists (League games only): 53-Steve Moses (Evan Gogonis-45)
  • Points (League games only): 98-Steve Moses
  • Goals (League games only) for a defensemen: 8-Joey Dillon
  • Assists (League games only) for a defensemen: 45-Mike White and Evan Gogonis (current season)
  • Points (League games only) for a defensemen: 50-Evan Gogonis (current season)

USCHO-FULL STORY

OT THRILLER GIVE B's SEASON SWEEP OF MONARCHS
Henrion Snipes Game Winner, 4-3

Johnny HenrionHOOKSETT, NH-The Bruins and Monarchs hooked up Friday night at the Tri-Town Arena for the final meeting of the regular season. The two teams could meet again in the playoffs but this would wrap up their three regular season tilts. The Bruins won the first two by 5-1 and 9-3 scores and with Friday night's 4-3 overtime thriller the B's swept the Monarchs for the second season in a row. The Bruins now hold a 7-0 record over their rivals to the north.

The Bruins jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Derek Arnold one timed an Evan Gogonis pass at the end of a four minute stretch of power play time for the B's Steve Morra also assisted on the play. That duo, Gogonis and Morra, would hook up again later in the game for another big goal. The first period would end that way and the Bruins would add to the lead in the second when Nathan Lavner banged home a rebound. It was the end of a great shift where the line of Lavner, Adam Nugent and Derek Arnold cycled the puck for nearly a full minute and then found Joey Dillon at the left point. Dillon got the puck to the net and Nugent took a first whack at the rebound and Lavner found that loose puck and tucked it home. The Monarchs got one back in the middle frame to make it a 2-1 game after two.

Evan GogonisThe Monarchs came out in the third and scored the next two to take the first lead of the game and, possibly, the first lead of the last two years. The lead did not last for long. The Bruins, for the first time all game, came alive and played with desperation and spent the next three minutes peppering the Monarchs goalie with shots but they could not solve him. That was until the Bruins took advantage of a defensive breakdown. With the puck below the goal line in the Bruins' own end Gogonis went to pick up the puck and begin the breakout. Matt Zarbo, seeing that the Monarchs defensemen were standing next to the wall leaving the center lane of the ice wide open, streaked up to the far blue line where Gogonis hit him with a 120 foot bomb of a pass on his tape and Zarbo went in on a breakaway. Zarbo faked to his right, brought the puck back to his forehand on the left side and beat goalie Nick Therrien with just 2:58 to go.

The game would go to OT as neither team could win it in regulation play. The Monarchs had a golden opportunity to win the game as Derek Arnold was whistled for tripping and they went on the power play. The Bruins' penalty kill unit, and goalie Clay Witt, held the purple and gold off the board and then got a chance of their own to go on the power play when Seth McQuade was called for hooking.

Steve MorraThe Bruins had 46 seconds to get the game winner. They controlled the play off the draw and got into their power play set and had a couple of quality shots that did not find the back of the net. That was until Morra got the puck on the right wing wall and moved the puck to Gogonis at the top of the umbrella. Gogonis started to walk the puck to the middle of the ice and as he was about a third of the way there he moved the puck to a wide open Henrion on the left wing flank. Henrion, the second leading goal scorer in the league with 35 rips, collected the pass and ripped a laser of a snap shot top shelf to send the Bruins bench pouring onto the ice as they kept their 25 game league wining streak alive. That streak will continue to be put to the test on Saturday as a tough weekend schedule continues with a road game at the Bay State Breakers.

"This team just keeps finding ways to win, even when we don't play our best," coach Andy Powers commented following the game. "That is the sign a of a team that can be great and it is reassuring to know when we come out flat or are just 'off' we can still find a way to win. We had some guys really play big in crunch time with Gogo having a three assist night and finding Zarbo on the tying goal, Zarbo finishing off the play and winning a ton of face-offs and Henrion getting the game winner."

GLASS TO BE A TERRIER
Little Bruins Forward Commits to BU

Andrew GlassFRAMINGHAM, MA-Wednesday night (January 17, 2007) Little Bruins and long time player for the 1989 Junior Bruins AAA tournament team forward Andrew Glass called coach Jack Parker to let him know he has made his college decision and will be suiting up for Parker's Terriers.

Glass, now a junior at Nobles, has been playing with the Bruins since 2001 in some capacity. A long time member of the 1989 Minuteman FLames, where he was a teammate of fellow Bruins Edwin Shea and Mike Vasilchuk, Glass first donned a B's jersey during the first year the 1989 Junior Bruins AAA tournament team played. There was immediate success as that team won the Repentigny tournament beating the Quebec Bulldog Boys 7-6 in the finals. In 2002-2003 he joined the Junior Bruins Midget AAA team and had 15-23-38 line in 61 games played. The following season he moved over the Little Bruins where he has played the last three seasons and was a captain this past year.

"Andrew has long been one of the top players his age in the New England area," said Chris Masters when asked about Glass committing to BU. "His skating and ice vision make him a dangerous player and BU will not be disappointed. They are getting a great player and an even better person."

Glass will arrive at BU in the fall of 2008. Congratulations to Andrew and the Glass family.

EJHL ALL STAR GAME
7 Junior Bruins in Mid Winter Showcase

HOOKSETT, NH- On Monday morning the seven Junior Bruins' players selected (Jake Coyle, Steve Moses,Justin Pallos, Josh Burrows, Jon Wolter, Edwin Shea and Wes Vesprini) for the All Star team represented the North division in the annually showdown.

Each division of seven is broken down into two teams and the EJHL holds two all star games right after each other on the same day. "This is the fourth year the league has had the two team format from each division. The thought was with 14 teams, and all teams needing representation, if we played just one game then players who deserved to be recognized would be left out because of a numbers game. So the league moved to two teams but made the rosters smaller for each game so as it not to be crazy, " said Coach Peter Masters.

Normally a roster for this event is 12 forwards and 8 defensemen and 3 goalies. For this two game event the rosters were made smaller (9 forwards, 6 defensemen and 2 goalies). This allowed for the players playing in each game to get more ice time when they are dressed, allowed each team in the league to have representation and gave the selection committee a better chance to include everyone who should be involved to be invited. The Junior Bruins players would all play together on the same team and would start the 2nd game of the day. The South would win the game 3-1 but the Junior Bruins players made their presents felt. Wes vesprini would shut out the the South during his half turning away double digits shots. In the 2nd half Justin Pallos would get the scoring started scoring 16 seconds into the half on a rebound off a Jon Wolter shot. I thought all of our players show well and held there own. I thought Wes Vesprini was strong during his half of the game posting a shut out, the Bruins forward line buzzed all afternoon and all three of our D men played solid," said Masters.

Congrats to all the Bruins players and participants in the 2007 All Star game.

THIRD PERIOD SHELLACKING
Vesprini, Burrows Lead Bruins to Shutout of Syracuse Stars, 7-0

Wes VespriniJosh BurrowsMARLBORO, MA-The Syracuse Stars hung in with the B's for two periods but could not solve All Star goalie Wes Vesprini. The Bruins, on a Steve Moses power play goal from Jake Coyle and Ryan Criscuolo, took a 1-0 lead into the third. In the third the Bruins hit their stride putting sixteen shots on net and lit the lamp six times. Overall the Bruins out shot the Stars by a 48-35 margin.

Jake Coyle (2), Josh Burrows, John Meyers, Kyle Solomon and Evan MackIntosh all scored in the third to complete the sweep of the Stars. "Wes was great and we needed him to be that good for the first two periods before we got going offensively. Another player who is at the top of his game is Josh Burrows," coach Peter Masters commented. "He is playing great over the last month and is starting to turn another corner in his play. We will need that to continue as we prepare for the stretch run through January and February."
