o-landscape.jpg”>MARLBORO, MA-The Junior Bruins have added another European tournament to their 2013 schedule. In addition to the 2001′s, who will travel to play in Stockholm, Sweden in April 2013, the 2000 Junior Bruins will travel to Bolzano, Italy (April 19-28…dates are not confirmed but will be in late April).

“When we added the trip to Sweden with the 2001′s we recognized that the 2000′s would miss this European tournament by a year and since the 2000 team is a strong one for our program we wanted to make sure they had a chance to participate in a world class tournament and cultural trip such as the WSI event in Bolzano, Italy,” Director Chris Masters commented. “We have started to map out a plan for our AAA program that will include each age group, starting as mites and finishing at the midget/junior age, going to the top tournaments in the world. Each birth year will play in Toronto, Boston, Montreal, Edmonton, Sweden, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Buffalo, Chicago, Portland (ME) and Las Vegas and we wanted to be sure that the 2000′s were included in a European trip.”

This tournament will feature world class competition in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. Bolzano is a city and the capital of South Tyrol, a province in northern Italy that has a strong agricultual background (wine, fruit and dairy).

The settlement was built by the Romans after the area’s conquest by general Nero in 15 BC. Bolzano has been an important trading point since its elevation to a town on June 24, 1190 by bishop Konrad of Trient, due to its location in between the two major cities of Venice and Augsburg. Four times a year a market was held and traders came from the south and the north. The city was a cultural crosspoint at that time, and still is to this day. World famous Lake Como (pictured on the front page) is just 100 miles from Bolzano so a quick trip to visit Lake Como or extending your trip to include additional sightseeing is an option as well.
