Former Bruins Named to World Junior Tryout Camps
FORMER B’s TABBED FOR US NATIONAL JR. EVALUATION CAMP
Knapp and Cichy Headed to Lake Placid; Four Others with B’s Ties Named as Well
FRAMINGHAM, MA-The process has begun to name the roster for the US World Junior team. This year’s World Junior Championships will take place December 26-January 5 in Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
USA Hockey has named its 43 man rosters that will compete at the Evaluation camp in August in Lake Placid. Typically 90% of the team is named out of this camp. There are six players with Bruins’ ties who will be competing for a spot on the World Junior team.
Former Junior Bruins (Empire and EJHL) and 1990 AAA tournament team goalie Connor Knapp, coming off a stellar freshman season at Miami is one of only four goalies that will be at Lake Placid. Mike Cichy (pictured left), a long time 1990 Junior Bruins AAA tournament team player, will also be at the camp. Cichy, a forward, played two seasons for the Junior Bruins (Empire) as well as a short stint with the EJHL team. Cichy will be at the University of North Dakota next year.
There are four other players who all played on the Bruins’ 1991 AAA tournament teams who were named as well. They are Ryan Bourque, Tyler Maxwell, Jeremy Morin and Andrew Yogan.
