FRAMINGHAM, MA - For the 9th year in a row the Junior Bruins will host their annual kick off tourney in September. This year the Shoot Out will feature three divisions. Each division will have a separate feel and style to it.

EJHL Division - 12 of the 14 EJHL teams will be in attendance. Each team will play three league games in total on Friday thru Sunday. No EJ teams will crossover on Sunday to the play off round.

Empire Division - All 21 teams from the ever growing Empire Junior B league will be in attendance. Each team will play three league games in a showcase format over the course of the weekend. No Empire teams will crossover to Sunday.

Midget Division-The midget division will be broken down into two divisions, the U16 and U19 divisions. The U19 division will consist of 20 midget teams, while the U16 division will consist of 16 teams. Each team will play a total of three round robin games and then the winners of each division will cross over to the playoff round on Sunday.

The games will be played at two venues this year, NESC and the North Star twin rink in near by Northborough. Games will start at 8am on Friday morning and the championships games will finish no later the 4pm on Sunday. "This is always an exciting weekend for the entire Junior Bruins organization. It is the first big event of the fall for the entire New England hockey community. Hockey fans get their first look at the fall and winter teams and it is the first time the scouting community gets a chance to really see all the top teams on the east coast in one building over a three day period," said coach Peter Masters. For any teams that have contacted the Junior Bruins and would like to apply for the tournament please send in your tourney application.

The Shoot-Out takes place at our home rink, the New England Sports Center in Marlborough, MA. The Center boasts five rinks under one roof, pro shop, snack bar, restaurant, fitness center and video game area. Watch all the games from the comfort of a warm central viewing area, the restaurant, or inside each rink to catch the full flavor of the game. We will also have games at two other nearby rinks. The Navin Rink in Marlboro is only 2 miles from NESC and the Northstar Forum in Westborough, Ma is 10 miles from NESC.

This will be the first major opportunity for College & Pro Scouts to check out the talent in the Boston area that they want to follow during the 08/09 season. The Center is within a 2-hour drive from approximately 21 D-I and 33 D-II & III programs. We expect most will be represented, in addition to scouts from NHL organizations and Central Scouting. Since the Shoot-Out takes place before college programs “take the ice” we also expect scouts from programs outside New England to catch the action.

Junior teams from all over the US and Canada are being invited to this “don’t miss” event! Last year we had over 70 division 1 and 3 scouts in attendance. If you’d like to bring both program levels (U16 and U19) please indicate that on the team application!
